23 going to 49...perfect for February. Local weather man just broke my heart...said above average temps as March begins...that's when we often get our best snow. Good thing is that he is often wrong.

MIL's move got postponed...room not ready...so took a nice long hike and I think I'm back to 100% (however, 100% of what, I'm not sure).

Then split the rest of my firewood to keep my splitter happy...I'm proud of it...it has started on the first pull each of the last 3 times. Some of you may remember I set a personal record a couple of years ago by having to pull something like 240 times one day to get it started...then I was too worn out to do much splitting.

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

17.3F going to upper 50s, sunny day forecasted.

Mrs is feeling better but not 100%, she is going to try going to work today.

weekend was not particularly eventful, went to the Ag Extension mushroom class, I did all the log drilling because Mrs was intimidated by the angle-grinder drilling attachment setup…. being we went with skinnier logs 3”-5” we may see mushrooms by end of summer!

worked on taxes for 5 hours yesterday, knocked out about 98% of the work. I need three more numbers to finish. . . Lots of fun doing math literally “under the gun”

now for coffee!

Coffee is brewing. 19° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 36° with clouds and a brisk wind out of the west. Got sump pump float ball guide made and installed on pump. Tested it to make sure it works before installing. Main shaft was frozen tight. Took it all apart. Put it back together. It worked. Not sure what the problem was. Removed old sump pump and installed new one. Works as it should. Tried to install new anode rod in water heater. Could not get old one out with 2' breaker bar. Used battery operated impact to remove. Installed new rod. Forced regeneration of water softener. Nice to have everything working as it should. Need to clean up shop from last few days projects today. Then watch some NASCAR in afternoon. Not looking good for that. Lots of rain in FL.

Woke up soaked in sweat. Been sleeping with flannel shirt and sweatpants, since I’m in and out of bed, downstairs, back upstairs all night. Woke up shirt was soaked. Took it off and used blankets. Woke up and they were soaked.
Totally different body reaction from night before. No fever last night. No feeling sick in stomach. Got a little sleep before midnight, then was awake till 3 or 4am.
Was hungry, so came down and ate some potato chips around 1am, they were really salty.
Son came down with a cold. Wife is starting to get one now.
Hungry.

Sounds like the fever broke!

Mission BBQ sounds good, my appetite is back. Still got 2 more days of antibiotics.
Feeling better each day. Think I’ll eat a snickers.

Last time I started my old generator it was a pull for hours affair. Why I now use a Honda, easy start.

The 4" of snow that we were promised turned into 16". Got the customers dealt with and the lower half of my driveway passable for right now. IF an emergency vehicle had to come up the drive, they could make it but would have to back all the way out. The upper part near the house is NOT done and will not be done until tomorrow. I ran out of light and I had the overpowering urge to park on the throne. In light of the action of the past two days I thought I had better park just in case.
No more runs and headache is gone. Win, win for me.
Temperature right now is 8°F and going down to 6 below tonight. Wind NW 14 gusting to 21 mph.

The most snow on the ground on this date in 1977 was 37.80", but I wasn't here.
I was in Alberta then, playing in -50°F temps and trucking with a detroit diesel, if they aren't working then they don't produce much heat.
I had on winter coveralls AND gloves, the inside of the windshield was frosting up and all I had to scrape it with was my fuel credit card. About 60 miles out I stopped at a gas station and scored a empty oil box and a coat hanger, used the garages' vise grips to cut the wire and tie the box over the grill to hopefully slow the cold down. It worked.
Fast forward to now and I have 4 fingers that get very cold very quickly, which is one of the reasons why I don't work outside in the cold unless I have a heater real handy.
Tomorrow will be more plowing.

32F and pouring buckets of rain in Beautiful Northern Nevada. Headed to 53F.

California is getting walloped with an atmospheric river. Most is staying West of the Sierra Nevadas, but even so, its a ton of water here in Nevada. It's a warm storm so maybe only another foot of snow for the snowpack.

Still running around with these surgical staples in me. Can't see the doc until the end of the week-- I'm now looking at my snap ring pliers and thinking ...
