67°F and .05 inches rain. Nowhere near what many of you are enduring.

Did get a couple hours mowing yesterday morning, but was still quite wet when I stopped. More today.

Makani has a small puncture type wound in a paw pad. Slow to heal and can be painful, causing the limp. I had been treating this with a topical when limp started. Apparently it didn’t fully heal and he aggravated it. Now a 10 day regimen of antibiotic and pain relief.

Possibly H&F this afternoon, but 1 of the players is on standby, BIL in Az in poor health.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Also just because you don't empty out every day you still get an accumulative total from the last time you emptied the manual gauge.
I like to know the rainfall amounts at the house when I'm gone.

We figured out the cost savings on gas alone will cover the membership, everything else is just icing on the cake.
We have Costco and Walmart+. I have found Costco to be a few cents above Walmart+ when you take the 10cents per gallon Walmart+ gives you off the pump price. But it's good to have both.

And there are more Walmart stations than Costco stations when I'm travelling.

Good morning! 35˚F heading to the 70s with sunny skies and South wind.
Today is prep day for next weeks cold front. The lows keep getting lower and the stores are getting crowded in anticipation. I bought a 125w heat lamp for the estate garage sink. My mom usually just let the water drip but they is no one there to monitor the house now so I will just turn the water off and drain, but the garage does not have a low drain.
Expected low is 12˚F here and 19˚F there.
This might help you with the outdoor faucets. Freeze Miser - Prevent Frozen Pipes & Damage in Winter

Went to put new camera on front porch to replace existing, and the box isn’t deep enough to push the cable connector up inside. The old camera has smaller base, and I can put camera on cover first, hook up cables in box then install box cover. New camera is size of cover, so cover goes on first with cable hanging out, then camera base. Then I can’t tuck cables inside box
Ran out for lunch with son. Need to fill up car, so eating at local mom and pop place, only open breakfasts and lunch about 4 days a week.

Um... I do. 0900, or close enough, every time it rains. My gauge is on a corner post of Paddock #5, away from trees and the shed.

I keep an annual chart in the shed. The BOM is at the aerodrome, about 7 km away towards the coast and I typically receive more rain than it records.

Congrats, my discipline doesn’t run that way. A proven fact. My PV system also records and resets various values at midnight, but almost from the beginning I determined that its state at 1st thing in the morning was much more valuable to me, so that is almost 1st item in morning, actually 3 or 4 depending how you count, as then I have a perspective that both what happens and my guess what needs to happen. In spite of having done so for over 18 years, those observations still fall within a time range, not exact time and have been missed from time to time due to not being present. Last week, when I reconciled my yearly data I pulled the automated report as I wanted better accuracy and didn’t need the time shift perspective.

I’d do even worse with a rain gauge. No way I’d be going out in a raging storm just because the clock chimed.

I applaud anyone with such discipline. 🤙

I do keep my own monthly/yearly chart, mostly to monitor our water catchment

Works so far
Yep. And has for me too. The cover. Not the frost free sillcock. I don't have those.

But running water, aka 'dripping faucets', is harder to freeze than still water in pipes. Even inside the walls. I have some faucets on taller pipes so I don't have to get on my knees to change a hose or washer. Those I like to 'drip' if it's expected to hard freeze.

I have never used the Freeze Mizer fittings but I did go look at them. Not cheap but if they can keep the pipes from freezing when a hard freeze is expected they would be worth it.

A question for you rain watchers, is there a inexpensive rain gauge that can handle freezing temps.
My old standby tubes that you have to empty do not do well when it gets cold.

Good evening already !

Thaw here. But already few degrees below 0 and snow storm is coming in. Which is kinda not nice:mad: as tomorrow early I have to drive 350 km up North, to Estonia, Tartu. Kids have basketball tournament for whole weekend. And wife signed-up to come with us. So fancy weekend starting tomorrow already ;)

Didn't check in yesterday as was rather busy. Arrived 3 customers. One was planned and 2 other guys were just passing by, came in just to see how my new office is looking like. Had very positive meetings. industry is struggling a bit, but seems already on recovery path. At least those guys was positive

At TV moderator said - it looks like he is blooming here. Because we are his strongest supporters. Of course, along with Poland, Germany, Netherlands.

Have a nice evening !
