good morning, 72 going to 87 no rain

Need rain and it looked like yesterday it was getting started but only drips. Daughter near DC got lots of rain.

Went up to the grower yesterday and picked up vegetables. Today pick up groceries

We seldom see bears. A few years ago a neighbor fed the bears. Lots of trouble

We will see what I may get into today

We had a large Cherry tree split down the middle by lightning close to the house

Rip, thanks for pushing the pro route...if you did that, I guess I will, too. Did you use a local, or one of the franchise outfits? If franchise, mind sharing a reco? Milk House is looking real nice.

...

On the hornets, we used a local company, that is now part of Orkin. We dropped them (Orkin) about a week ago for coverage. Had termite and inspection services.

I guess any licensed pest control company can do the dusting. He showed up, I pointed to the hole, he agreed that was the nest. He put on his bug suit, full head cover, etc. etc...then dusted them. He did mention you do not want to get stung by them a few times.

When my friend said "professional" on the treatment, I took it to heart. The man knows his insects. LOL. Wife was nervous after she heard his reply and saw me out there with the spray and foam. LOL.

Speaking of foam, I have had a few instances now with Spectracide foam on wasp nests that just pisses them off. I am not using that stuff ever again. No fun in it, running like a wild man through the buildings.

The Milk House siding is almost done. Just the gable areas need work. One exposes the chimney, the other the walkway area roofs. Need to bend some metal there. The walkway has a shed that housed cooling equipment, It was an add on to the walkway. I wrapped it anyway. After I shored up and replaced some of the framing. Nice area to store boots and umbrellas walking into the Milk House. I wrapped the inside of the walkway with salvaged roofing metal on the walls. And worked the concrete floor slab, evening it out and building it up.

My previous house we weathered a storm that produced a big bolt that shook the house. I checked everything, all appeared OK. Then I heard the sirens going off at the local FD. A few minutes later, someone was knocking on our front door.

"Do you know your woods are on fire?"

I peek behind the person, yep. I hear the FD engine coming up the road and thanked them. They did not call it in, but were driving by and happened to see the fire.

Big Oak took the hit. Got some good firewood out of it. No pun intended. Brush fire only. Tree was split.

my morning plans fell apart.
plumber shows up, says he needs a part. Says he's done dozens of these.
Says he's worked on this before.
well....begs the question why you didn't bring a y connector for plain plumbing pipe.
then cleaning lady calls, she's sick.

ok, I'll go food shopping instead.

The chimney is not up to today's code, obviously. I forget what they call this type of construction. They are to be removed if work is needed.
I have a little Harbor Freight jackhammer, and an even better Bosch hammer/drill, that would make short work of the mortar holding those bricks together, Mike. Then just drop them off the roof, nice and gentle like, one at a time.

I tried just about all of the sprays...bought at local hardware, Wal-mart and one ordered from Amazon...it worked best..."Ortho Home Defense Hornet and Wasp Killer 7"...a different mix of chemicals...I did see hornets dropping from the tree to the ground quickly...maybe the worst for us, too.
