I remember those days. I normally buy the biggest package I can buy... but I couldn't believe how empty the shelves were when it was time to stock up, so bought the smallest I could find. Just because I didn't want to look like a hoarder, even though it was less than my normal purchase.They had toilet paper when the big boxes were out.

Now I'm not saying that DG toilet paper felt real nice... it felt like DG toilet paper.

Other than greeting cards one thing we use the dollar stores is for disposable aluminum baking pans...don't use them for everything but for some things they are well worth the cheap price compared to having to soak / scrub a yucky pan...some things even PAM won't stop from sticking...!

Bought 3 cards today for Mothers day for under $4!!!
Thing is, my one 18 year old son has worked at the same store now (in our small town) for close to 4 months as an assistant manager, and I'm perplexed why a manager can't actually get a schedule out on time and let people know when they are supposed to work.
He ended up giving his two weeks notice because his other job (a whopping .50 less per hour) offered him more hours and he likes the job better.
I just find it amazing with the slim pickings of the workforce out there now where you can't plan a work schedule appropriately. Boy gave two weeks notice, and the manager told him the last two times he showed up for work that he wasn't needed. Kind of a prick move IMO as a manager.
BUT... 3 mothers day card for under $4 still can't be beat. Texted my son at his other job the same thing LOL (he agreed).

Our master bedroom is now finally finished after a remodel. My only suggestion to everyone is to get a bidet. Best thing since slice bread believe me!

Before I retired we did work for Dollar General, land surveying and site design. This was probably 15 to 20 years ago when they were first getting wound up. They always tried to beat us down on price and they must have found someone cheaper after we did a few store. The local store which is maybe only 10 years old closed for several days, all the refrigerators went out. Then again a few months later for a remodel. I always figured they went cheap on everything and it didn’t last long.
