Solved my reinforcement issue - no cost. Two 7 inch lag each joint. Bolts from my roof replacement project. 12 bolts per door. Also facilitates the build.
I did get a 2nd door built and hung before going off to treat Sophie.

21F and clear @ 01:30, that should be the low.

Went over to relatives for dinner, good food, good company, and an enjoyable evening ... although I kept dozing off in the recliner ...

Five deer came through as we were heading out, probably disappointed that there was no corn.

Will fire up the torpedo heater and head out to the garage here in a bit.

I just looked on FB Marketplace and saw a Unisaw with Biesenmeyer fence for $600, there were many choices ranging from 600-2000.

Yeah, I went up there and had a look - a bunch of them and others (Powermatic, Grizzly, Enco, etc) around here (OH, MI, IN, PA, WV) as well.

Prices range from around $350 up to around $2K and slightly more.

Some of them look pretty rough (restoration project) ... to well-used ... to pretty nice (obviously well-cared for) and sporting additional goodies (Biesenmeyer or Incra fences)

There was one Unisaw just down the road in Canton that the guy had reduced the price on to $900. Claimed to have had it for 35 years and had literally cut miles of wood with it. That one had been listed for better than 12 weeks and disappeared between late last night when I saw it and earlier this afternoon when I tried to find it again. Not all that familiar with Marketplace so it might possibly still be there.

There are several more in the immediate Northeast Ohio area.

Having a vague idea of the various corporate incarnations that Delta/Rockwell went through over years, any thoughts about what the sweet spot would be in terms of vintage ?

RS, LS, PopaG, thanks for the info again on the table saws. I am looking for a upgraded homeowner special. Don't need it to do anything but rip window and door trims. And it has got to move about as there is always something going on somewhere other than the house.

I suspected that might be the case ... ;)

Today I’m in the shop ordering supplies and building speakers, I think I have enough of a waiting list to keep me busy for as long as the supply chain holds out.

Seeing anything not too insane as far as Baltic Birch plywood prices go ?

RS, I would agree with others here. Avoid a contractor type saw and go higher end. When building the house I bought a Craftsman 10” zip code cabinet saw with Besenmeyer fence. Zip code was a nick name for that model, no longer available. Not real high end, but what I could afford.

Went up to LumberJocks forum and had a look at a thread where a guy acquired one of those and after some work put into service, with an upgraded SawStop fence:

Looks like a very nice saw ... (y)

(A thing of beauty actually ... ;))

I have built all my cabinetry over the years. If I had a complaint it would only be the cast iron top likes to rust in our environment. That said, it cleans up nicely. I did have to replace the belt once. My shop is rather tight on space so I have it mounted on castors enabling me to make any cut I needed.

Good to know ... would certainly consider it.

This one is about 20 miles up the road from me:

Appears to be similar to the one in the thread on the LumberJocks forum, but I don't think it's the same saw.

Guy is asking $350 IIRC.

This is the Unisaw that was down in Canton:

Around 1966 vintage apparently, looks well used.

31°F now highs today in the low 40’s winds NNW 20-30 mph with gusts at 40+ mph. Still some light snow coming down along with lots of “snow bombs” falling out of the trees with the wind.

Went out around at 3:00 yesterday afternoon to start a little clean up, was around 14” on the ground and still snowing pretty good. Helped neighbors with the plow wind row that was close to 30” tall. Called it quits at 6:30 for some food and feet up time.
From the looks of it now there’s another 6” to clean up when daylight gets here.

Enjoy your day everyone, stay safe
