27 outside this AM, may get to 40 today. Far cry from earlier this week. Suns up, snow clouds in the sky. LOL. Calling for some later.

Hope all have a great weekend. Nothing on the agenda, maybe cleanup and work on the Milk House. Need to take the wife for a walk again.

Be safe, get or stay healthy.

have been reading about Starlink for RVs. 150 bucks a month plus 600 for portable, 2500 for in-motion.
there are now lots of videos on this but I never knew one could look up in the sky on a clear night
and see Musk's "satellite train" go by.

first I thought it was a joke but apparently you can see them.

hopefully none of our current planes go up this high.
I can see the supply ship for the space station having to dodge these things going by...apparently there are many thousands of these
things flying around "up there".
Sure hope they are designed to burn up when they finally fall down.
Space junk is already a problem.

Is a low earth orbit permanent? Beyond the pull of gravity?
good thing a homeowner policy covers you for "falling objects".

Good Morning
It’s cold out here today 22 when I got up and won’t be above freezing.

Yesterday was pretty much all day in the shop. Had to clean up and get organized for speaker building. When I moved the carryall, I noticed it had a small oil spot under it. Apparently I lost the washer on the drain plug the last time I changed the oil. I have aluminum washers faced with neoprene, but not in the right size, so I used a copper sealing washer. Hopefully it will stop acting like a Harley now.
Picked up some 5x5 sheets of Baltic Birch and got to work cutting out parts and getting them ready for assembly. I’ll cut all the dados today.

I was surprised that all of the supply channels opened up about the same time after over a year of unavailability. Electronic components for crossovers are still spotty, but with some substitution, I was able to get what I needed. Things like getting higher value inductors and unwinding to the values that I need, or using more expensive, higher voltage rated capacitors than I needed, but I’m back in production for now.

Music went well last night, keyboard player is on a cruise, so we played stuff that worked without him.

Today will find me doing wood work in the shop pretty much all day, making sawdust and speaker cabinets at the same time. Will have to run to HD for a case of Loctite PL urethane adhesive, it’s what I use for all the joints, there are no mechanical fasteners used in the construction other than a few pin nails for alignment. Just dados glue and clamps.

For a connection that is just audio, I’d use the optical, it’s a smaller, more flexible cable. And you are correct, no difference in the 1’s and 0’s.
I'm likely to have to drill a hole to route some cables in a cabinet so the smaller cable is a much better idea. Thank you.
Fiber optics is a remarkable invention that has changed our world.
I figured once it went digital, it was all up to the amp and speakers in the sound bar.
Does that mean the soundbar has a DAC? (digital to analog converter)

the sound bar will also do wireless inputs from devices/tech I still have not learned.

glad you got your wood. I'm sure priced like they flew it first class from the Baltics...

Good Morning!!!! 36F @ 5:30AM. Mainly cloudy. High 49F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.
Picked up an inch of precipitation yesterday, mostly rain before the early morning snowfall, then more rain in the afternoon. Almost all the snow was melted by sundown.
Looks like a dry day on tap, but more rain on the way for tomorrow through mid week. Then a couple more dry days before more rain for next weekend. The weeds are happy for the moisture, and it's time to get the sprayer fired up again.

Sorry to read the bad news on your wife, RS, but glad your persistence paid off. Will you be testing yourself, too?

Snow is such a rarity here I thought it worth a video. Here's a pop up flight made after it almost stopped snowing, and the snow was already melting.
The Mini was complaining about high winds at the top of the flight, in that it was unable to maintain position against the wind. I brought it down fast enough that I missed the landing pad by a few feet, but that's better than having to fish the drone out of the lake.

Didn't get the start on taxes I'd have hoped because another house came up down south that was worth a look. Nice size on a cul-de-sac, big back yard and possible RV access down one side of the lot. Had to dig around in the Santa Barbara County Municipal Code to sus out the zoning regulations for accessory buildings, but it looks like I can build up to 1250 sq. ft. without any issues. The realtor will visit it tomorrow and tie me in on a zoom call where he'll stream video as he walks around the place. That should be interesting...

I'd like to gather up the ash from the last burn pile and get it moved down to the ditch I've been dumping in, but it might be too wet still. If so, it'll be another inside day.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!
