Good Morning.
Nice to wake up to a cloudless sky. It’s going to be a nice day.

IMG_1594.jpg

Yesterday was spent primarily in the shop cleaning up and putting things where they belong, even if that meant creating a home for them.
I can actually see visible progress.
A trip to the local turkey farm for some pepper turkey sticks, sort of like slim Jim’s, but with turkey. Got some lunch with some friends while I was out and then back to the shop.

Today will start with breakfast with the professor, wife is going to come along as well. I got her a pack of Rollos for Valentine’s Day, pales in comparison to the two dozen white roses our son got our DIL. But he is the one that went to the Super Bowl, leaving her home with a toddler….

Likely back in the shop today, hopefully capitalizing on yesterday’s momentum. No projects scheduled, but you never know.

Good morning, 36 going to 56 today

Going to pick up meds and groceries today as well as go for wife's infusions at the clinic.

Don, that saw looks good. Hope it works out for you

The mini split is keeping it warm this morning

The cats got the left over chicken boiled down. They were excited and came running to the barn.

Our shooting neighbor has packed up his tent and feeder and his bursts of target shootings have also stopped. He was doing at when it was getting dark in the evening I guess so I could not see what he was doing. He used tons of ammo. Must be expensive to continue

It might 'reach' but the best angle of attack is at least 45degrees... anything more vertical and the limb will split, pinching, and potentially twisting, the blade.

I find that the blade works best on the 'down-stroke'.
You left out the most important part of 45˚ - so the limb won't fall on me. The teeth on this particular saw are positioned so that they cut both ways - up and down stroke.

Buenos días y feliz día de San Valentín! (Good morning and Happy Valentines Day!)
A warm cloudy 63˚F heading to the mid 70s with lots of wind from the west.

Morning , was 32 going up to 54 and the sun is started to peek over the trees.

Fox was back on front stoop, winder if it is hunting the voles that live in the ground cover there?
Black cat also stopped in, new one I haven't seen before. Quite a few cats wander through here, usually see an orange one in the afternoons, all look healthy so must live at one of our neighbors.
Keep mice down, with the foxes (and squirrels) so not complaining.

Kilroy - feel better
The MSU shooting, scary stuff, prayers for families...

Today I might get some outside time, we'll see.

Got my wife a lego Orchid for valentines day with some other stuff, will see if my son will assemble for her.

Be well,

Good Morning!!!! 40F @ 5:15AM. Partly cloudy. A few flurries or snow showers possible. High 53F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.
Well if it's 40F outside now, not much chance of seeing any white stuff. Which is fine with me.

The well service guy rang the doorbell a little late yesterday morning, but he'd already let himself into the pump house and taken apart the wiring on the well head. Initially he didn't have any good news, indicating that there was an open wire down to the pump motor, which meant moving everything stored in the pump house and taking off the roof to allow the pipe string to be extracted. But then he noticed some charring on the inside cover of the electrical box, and looking closely at the wires saw that one was burned where it had been shorting to the conduit going into the box. He replaced a short section of wire and the pump motor fired right up. Whew, that was a huge relief! We talked over the voltage sag issues, and he suggested installing a Variable Frequency Drive jet pump, which I thought was a good idea. It'll double the flow capacity of the system, eliminate the voltage sag with a soft start up, and get rid of the troublesome pressure switch I've been replacing every couple years. Turns out he left his wire crimp tool, so he needs to come back anyway.

Spent some time running searches for a Volkswagen Sportwagon with the TDI Diesel engine, finding one for sale locally. It has way too many miles on it to consider purchasing, but I'll drop by the VW dealer tomorrow and see if I can talk them into a test drive. There are a couple low mile cars in Oregon, and I'm thinkin' of saving the sales tax by driving up there, renting a one way tow dolly, and bringing one home.

Finished the day by moving the downed tree parts over to the next wood pile I'll be working, then raking out the still smouldering ashes from the last burn pile so they can air out and finish burning. Then I took a stab at moving one of the stumps. It's about 5' across, full of dirt, and has about 8' of 18" trunk sticking out of it. Way too heavy to pick up, but I did get a chain on it and broke it loose from the ground. But as soon as I got to a little uphill, the tractor lost traction and it wasn't going any farther. So today I'll cut the trunk off to lighten it, then see if I can push what's left over to the next burn pile.

Happy Valentine’s Day!! To my wife, not you guys.

41°. Wife turned pellet stove on. It was off and 50° when I went to bed.

Liking back at pictures of this day in history, we’ve had a lot of snow on for Valentine’s Day.
In 1986 I got hit by a girl who lost control on an icy bridge.

In 1997 was starting 2nd floor joists on the house. One of the few snows that winter, thank goodness.

Morning all;
A bright sun shinning day here, 36F already. Amazing for mid February.
I see a lot of maple producers have taps running and collecting all ready this year.
I hope they have a good season, hope these trees don't get to budding out to early and then get froze.
Been an unusual winter here this year, early snow and cold then a warmup, one cold snap for a couple of
days and then back to unusually warm. Making for lots of mud. Been puttering on my new to me 97
New Holland 8160 it will be a good sized driveway and snow blower tractor, 90 hp on the pto.
Had to get new brake master cylinders, got them installed and tried to bleed them ended up with a bad one
from the new ones. Now waiting on another one.
Just finished my breakfast, made one of my favorites sausage gravy, biscuits and over easy eggs.
Probably get 4 more breakfasts from this batch of gravy.
Everyone get well and stay healthy.
