Thank God for Dollar Tree / Family dollar

We had a new dollar tree / family dollar built 10 minutes up in town. Today, valentines day cards, 2 for $1.07 (always get a funny card and a serious card).

Last 12 years we had a dollar general in the same local town. Generally refused to buy there due to their prices. Driving 25 minutes into the larger town in the other county had pretty much the same price as dollar general but with a whole lot more product selection.

I just don't get why people buy at dollar general and why they put so many of them up. When I go into Mountain City Tenn. I can drive past 3 of them in about a 10 mile span.

The Family Dollar stores are pretty much gone here. I forget which of the other two have taken it's place. I like their card prices also. Hallmark must be on crack to charge what they do, for something which will be read once and thrown in a pile.

Yet people keep buying them...

We have more dollar generals than gas stations in our county. They do have there place because when my wife calls me on my way home and asks me to get milk for our daughter I don’t have to drive the extra 10 miles to town I can stop a mile from the house to overpay for milk

What's funny is it was my wife who instructed me NEVER to buy at dollar general.

My wife watches what she spends harder than my dad. She knows the food bill, believe me.

Makes me feel REALLY guilty if I throw something in the burn barrel...

We used to have 5 locally country stores within two miles of each other. Literally the owners had their living quarters in a part of their store building and did all the work that was done in the store. They went out of business 20+ years ago as the owners died off. We just had a Dollar General built in the last year.

Wayyy back, Dollar General was more like today's Dollar Tree in their pricing, but today, their pricing seems more like convenience store pricing. There for a time, Dollar General offered two for a dollar greeting cards, but I don't know what they charge today.

I often stop at our Dollar Store for example 2-3 inch paint brushes,shop rags,picnic paper plates etc. BIG saving compare to box stores supermarkets,only catch check out lines long wait lack off staff.

Agreed. My wife is a great person. She handwrites long notes on every card. I'm certain that my wife isn't alone compared to to wives of many members here.

End of the day, sometimes boys and girls think differently

A guy would take a piece of metal and plasma cut a heart shape for Valentines.
