38F and cloudy @ 08:30, heading up to around 40F for the high for the day.
High yesterday hit 69.3F ... which trounces the previous record of 65F.
Enjoying a cuppa from the second pot The Woman decided to make yesterday (very unusual ...
)
Got drill guide lubed up and put back together yesterday, and Jacobs chuck installed. Still need to pick up a 3/8-UNF male to 1/4 shank adapter to make it easily usable.
Then dialed in the laser crosshairs on the new drill press. Used a 3/4" Forstener bit to drill the countersinks for the carriage bolts for the saw horses.
After that I worked on the Shop Vac, cleaned off filter and emptied canister.
Went up to the shop and fired up the double-barrel to warm things up.
Once I had that going I headed over to the barn and rounded up some plywood bits and pieces and brought those back over to the house. Some useful stuff but nothing too exciting (larger pieces of quality 3/4 would be exciting)
I did notice that there was a possum in the live trap. Apparently a fairly recent victim as it wasn't stinkin' ... headed back over to the barn and collected it up and took it up to the compost pile and set it out for the scavengers.
Rebaited the trap and set it back out in the barn. Will have to make it a point to check it regularly so there aren't any stinky surprises waiting for us over there.
Had an egg with toast and The Woman's sausage gravy that She warmed up for lunch.
Then headed up to the shop and finished up the sanding on the drum and lid. Got both of them cleaned off with mineral spirits, treated the lid and the bottom of the drum with phosphoric acid to kill/convert any remaining rust. Used one of the Wagner heat guns to dry it up so I could shoot them with primer.
Got two coats of rattle can primer applied to the drum itself, followed by two coats of Duplicolor red engine enamel. Hard to say for sure due to the poor lighting, but I'm fairly certain that the drum could use an additional coat ... but I'm out of paint at this point. Several different Advance Auto's in the area stock it, so will need to pick up another can or two next time I'm out and near one.
Skipped doing the lid for now, as I didn't really have any good place to set it to shoot it.
The drum will have to wait a week to dry before it can have additional coats applied, probably just put the lid on it at that point once it's primed to spray it.
Got the painting finished up around 19:30 and came back on down to the house for dinner of some Thai chicken in peanut sauce that The Woman made the other day.
After dinner I queued up the next Harry Potter movie for The Woman to watch and then headed downstairs and got the fish fed and grabbed a shower.
Finished watching the rest of that after I came back up.
By the time that was done it was 23:00 so we both headed off to bed.
Agenda for today will be to get back into fixing the shower valve.
Refill hopper feeder.
Possibly some work out in the garage as well ...
Hope everyone has a great TGIF !
