Lou, I put chains on my Kioti 7 years ago and haven't gotten around to taking them off yet. They are somewhat good in mud, too.

Buppies, Workmens Comp doesn't cover workers over 65 years of age in Ontario. I think because there is no mandatory retirement age any more that can be argued. I have no plans on getting hurt to argue the point.

If the seats are relacable, replace them while it is apart.

They are, and I planned to ... assuming I can get them out ... ;)

Removed the one on the cold water end a bit ago, the ones for the diverter and hot water are being a little more stubborn ... so I'm letting them soak in some Blaster after having heated the portion of the valve body they are in several times with the MAPP torch.

If not, invest in a seat grinder - something like https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-Faucet-Reseater/1002633322

33F with snow @ 19:00, hit 37.9F for the high today. Heading down to around 31F for overnight low.

We were both up pretty late last night, ended up watching a couple of movies so got up really late today.

Woman made a large pot of vegetable beef barley soup day before yesterday which we've had for dinner the last couple of days. Was very good.

She said a large ash came down earlier over on the west side across the property line, already had the top out of it apparently. Fortunately it missed the rhododendron over there.

Plans for today were to make a run down to Menards for plumbing supplies and some other items.

Then I did some checking and found this on Amazon:

Screen Shot 2023-01-20 at 18.58.06.png

It was available through Menards for $6 bucks less ... but they don't stock it and it would take a week to arrive.

So for $47 and change Amazon got the business and it will be here on the doorstep tomorrow. Much better deal than the separate pieces/parts ... the 3 stems alone would have been around $60 at Menards. Has different style handles/knobs which I actually prefer.

Also ordered a new spout for the tub which will be here Sunday.

Woman is currently working on removing the old mastic off the backs of the tiles.

She poked Her head into the room earlier where I'm now sitting and announced She is thinking about pulling out the Wagner Power Steamer and pulling all the wallpaper down in the main bathroom and wanted to talk about it ... (y)

That's actually fine with me ... since I've hated the wallpaper ever since it was put up 20+ years ago. The only issue would be is whether She can slow down and be gentle enough to not destroy the drywall underneath the paper.

Time to take another shot on the 2 remaining valve seats before I put everything back together and turn the household water back on.

Then probably grab some chow.

PO run, got heartworm meds at Vet for the pups, got my aluminum angle, but $5 Friday at Safeway was a bust for Sophie, but I did get some nice looking NY Strips on sale.

My pumpkin soup is keeping warm in the instapot and we are taking a breather before friends arrive.

Good (Saturday) morning. Overnight Low of 10C and it's presently 23.8C, calm and intermittently overcast.

Trailerable 'port-a-loo' collected from the Council Depot and pork shoulder collected from the 'Providore'. Spitroast brought over to the house & set up then did some basic cleaning.

Today will start to get busier as others will start dropping off items for setting up tomorrow morning. I'll prepare the slow-cooker for the pulled pork, looking to turn it on at 0400. The lamb will also be dropped off this evening = skewered/balanced and hung for Sunday AM.

Early to bed tonight. :)

That's about it, take care all.

What does it cost for the surge protector from the utility? My utility has a similar program, but it costs $6/month and I have 2 buildings and I have 2 meters. I'm thinking about just getting a surge protector that connects to one of the 220 breakers, it is suppose to give whole house protection.
It is $5 / month. No charge for the protector or install.

The snow arrived about 15:00. Really coming down, got a few inches by 16:30. That was the big dump, radar shows just a few isolated showers left. Pellet stove purring, nice ambiance for dinner.

The pizzas were fantastic!
D0DD8D5A-537C-45DF-8B84-BD5F62DAE6A9.jpegThis is all that's left over from 2 of them.

Got an email back from the attorney..... she wants to have a discussion about the denial next week. Hopefully, a plan of attack will be made. Now I'm going to try and not think about it anymore. She did say it's a common practice for them to deny initially, but she was surprised that they did in my case.

I felt that the specs on the surge were pretty good, hence deciding that it would be worth the $5 a month. Still using the ones in the house in addition. Over the years, we have lost a washer and dryer, Apple computer, well pump, refrigerator, and an upright freezer. Homeowner's insurance covered most, except for the $1000 deductible..... Don't want to deal with that again.

Time to relax.
Hope everyone has a good evening!

Some of you asked about the Greenland dog sled patrol Sirius and I found a good summary of what they are about including why they don't use snowmobiles that can fail:
