Empty streets, deserted shopping centers, and residents staying away from one another are the new normal in Beijing -- but not because the city, like many Chinese ones before it, is under a "zero-Covid" lockdown.

this is worrisome. The alligators are like cockroaches apparently, hard to kill.
The Chinese population puts on a huge protest about masking, the government relents, drops the restrictions and two weeks later
they are all sick.
I worry about that upper respiratory crud going around, like my brother has.
Hospitals are filling up again due to covid, flu and the RSV (?) chest crud.
most of us have either gotten sick or had family members sick.
So far I've been lucky. Got my shots and wore a mask. But I live alone and not near many small children.
So I probably have lower exposure. And when I go into the hospital or drug store, I mask up.
Seems a lot of folks here are going back to masks in public places. Or maybe they are still sick, walking around contagious, at least with
a mask on. One hopes. All the more reason to have my own mask on. For me. Your results will surely vary.
I wish this didn't need to get mentioned any more, still annoys lots of folks apparently, but just seems a reality we need to deal with. A new normal.
just stay healthy and safe out there, that's all. It's what we all wish for each other.
