Good morning!!!!

56 and some stars, but getting cloudy and ready to rain this evening after hitting 69.

Probably won't get any trick or treaters here out in the country...been many years, since out kids were young...It used to be fun seeing the costumes and excitement...parents would have to drive them here, so most were friends/acquaintances. My wife still decorates and makes bags of goodies to give out.

I realized I'd been driving more than usual, and checked my log, and sure enough, needed to change the oil in the truck yesterday...nice day for it, since I do it on the gravel driveway. Glad I had everything needed. Taking off the skid plate is easy...getting it back on just depends on my luck...yesterday I was unlucky, so it was a struggle. 7.9 quarts 0W20, bought on sale at Costco.

Then I cleaned my chainsaw, sawed a stump even to the ground with a less than sharp chain, knowing I'd dull it. Cleaned saw again, and now need to sharpen it. I know where a couple of dead trees are calling me. Ken, your view looks nice through your cleared area. Getting low on coffee, so will roast today, and maybe some target practice.

So the snack for lunch was peppers that were roasted on the grill on high heat until all black on the outside. Then peeled and in olive oil overnight. Delicious.
Boy!! That sounds good!!

this is for you Navy guys
after almost five years the USS Gerald Ford is finally on its way, coming into Halifax Canada.
In the pic is a cruise ship dock, I remember visiting Halifax on that cruise ship about ten years ago.
I always thought the Canadians were extra friendly.

this ship produces enough electricity for 250,000 homes. An amazing floating city and your tax
dollars hard at work. Sistership coming out in 2024. Incredibly complex machines. I do wonder what an EMP would do
to shut it all down very quickly. That ship would be hard to paddle.

Deterrence. Hope it works. And a continued thank you to our folks in uniform.

Good morning, 48 going to 62 rain in the forecast today.

Daughter is in surgery for hip replacement this morning. She has literally organized this among her friends as a military mission setting up dedicated WhatsApp channel and prepared it all down to the smallest detail. Should be out of surgery later this morning.

Prayers for your daughter that the surgery is successful and a fast recovery

Good Morning and a Happy Halloween to all.
It’s 38 out and going to top 60. Dense fog now, clearing, then rain later this evening.

Yesterday was another day of clean up, I did pickup 4 bags of charcoal and clean and reload the firebox on the smoker, got the wedding stuff largely taken care of. We ended up draining beer into a drainage swale just to make the kegs easier to lift. Kept them cold for a week, and tried to give them away for someone to empty the old fashioned way, but no takers.
When the temperature peaked about 60 in the afternoon, I headed to the airport and took the biplane out for about an hour exercise. It was not uncomfortably cold, I think the new rule might be temperature has to be within 10 degrees of my age to take it out.
Fall colors were just stunning, followed the Delaware River for a while, and enjoyed the sights. I’m kicking myself for not taking any pictures, maybe I’ll have to go up again later this week.

Today, I’m thinking about extending a PEX airline in the shop over to the press to make it tidier to hook up to it. Maybe try to clear off the woodworking bench which is piled with stuff as horizontal surfaces are magnets for things that don’t really belong there. Typically half the stuff belongs in the trash, or actually has a home and just didn’t make it there.

We are supposed to have some trick or treaters this evening, a rare occurrence here. Our lane is over a quarter mile, and the road itself is sparsely populated with no side walks, so we are not a “target rich environment” like the nearby subdivisions. So other than friends driving their young kids her, there are no walkers.

Morning all, 42 going up to 67 and the fog is thick.
Happy Halloween.

Son not feeling well again. His friends were supposed to come over later, sure that will be discussed.

Grilled up some steaks and made coleslaw and garlic mashed potatoes for dinner.

While we were at Peddlars village a red tail hawk was on the ground wrestling a snake and then flew off with it. Interest how the people watching had so many different reactions.
Some people it seems have no idea how this nature thing works.

M7040 - I thought the idea of moonshine is it's home made and bought directly from the still owner.
We used to pay $1 for a gallon from our lumberjack neighbors in MA. $21.99 seems a bit much, even with $2 of peaches in it :)

Dog does not like a few of the new decorations and looked scared, so I guess they work?

Even looks like Halloween out.

having visions of 30 Alpaca lined up greeting trick or treaters at Popgadget's place, maybe with white hoods on so
they look like ghosts of the field...

headed out to Petco this morning to look at fish tanks. Need to get it set up and water stabilized before I think about what fish to buy.
I figure RS will give me some pointers. Peaceful fish. No piranhas.

Ken, I thought about putting those peaches on top of some vanilla ice cream.
