I have a dead ash that is in a corner where the main road line makes a 90 degree corner to feed the neighbors house. This tree is also in a line of trees, so I have only 1 direction I can drop it. The power company refused to touch it since it is more than 10 feet from the power lines. If I cut it and it takes down a wire I'm responsible to pay, but if it just falls on its own, they fix it at no cost to me. As long as it doesn't break the customer pole. Either way I'm out of power, but "free is for me".
If it does break the customer pole, then all of the people after me on the dead end road are also out of power and I don't think I should have to pay then either because they've been feeding them & using this customer pole for free since the 70's. I should get a free pole just because I haven't been sending them a monthly bill for rent.
