BEF, an idea for your exterior.

"Much of the facade is clad in sustainably sourced Radiata Pine, which is naturally a light-colored wood. According to a representative of Alvarez Morris Architectural Studio, the blackened finish was achieved by exposing the wood to a hot flame until it charred, leaving behind a finish that's crackled and burnt. In other words, if the residence were a Denver steak, it would be served well-done."

68°F and no rain.

Yesterday didn’t go as planned. Football just didn’t hold my attention so a couple hours mowing with Sophie’s BX before making dump run.

Zoom Happy Hour this afternoon.

Prayers for all

55 outside right now. Should be the high for today.

Not raining, which is good. Rained all weekend. No flooding, just a steady, yucky, cooler rain.

BIL power just came back a few hours ago. He has managed to secure his house and FIL's. FIL had a few walls collapse and there is extensive damage in their neighborhood. To add to my BIL stress level, FIL is relocating down there in a few days. I offered words of encouragement to my BIL. Feel really bad for him, I know he has a lot on his plate and is working like a dog.

I don't recall what I did this weekend. Just tended to the animals, which two are still off the pastures due to horse related illnesses. No constructive work done on any projects. I'd like to get back to busy, but the weather and time allotments have other plans.

Hope all are safe and in good or getting better health.

Frits, here it is sometimes referred to as a Topping Off. Sometimes a party, sometimes a local blessing. No consequences if nothing. We opted for blessing from a friend who was deacon at local Catholic church - kinda combined Catholic/Hawaiian flavor.

I cannot begin to stress how important that really is. As a Quality Jerk, I've spent a fair portion of the last 23 years trying to get engineers to walk out on the production floor and actually get their hands into the manufacturing processes. "It works on paper" doesn't always translate to real world manufacturing success. Knowing what works and what doesn't is a big part of good design. People have to be able to get their hands and/or tools into the spaces where parts need to go, and they must be able to do it efficiently. Knowing the flow of the manufacturing processes is also crucial. Entirely too many engineers make it painfully obvious that they've never actually built anything.

Sounds like your organization gets this, Kyle. Kudos.

Right on.

Hard to keep track of all those "foreigners" on here but I think you mean Helo from Latvia although when I lived in Denmark almost 60 years ago that was also the custom. Frits

Emailed permits office and they responded right away with one email for house building permit and all forms required, one email for barn and all permit documents, and third email for the barn with an agricultural exemption, with a form to claim its being used for ag purposes and so no building permit required. Zoning permit and electrical permit still required.
They didn’t really answer my questions though about the sequence. So I emailed back with list of “my understanding” of the process.
Said I understand I can install driveway now without a permit, then will need zoning permit only to install shed under 256 sf. And electrical permit.
If I go with barn, I understand I’ll need building/electrical permit if not ag building.

The last 3 years of permits are posted online, so I’ve been looking thru them. Some interesting notes, like can’t install power in shed without a foundation. Yet there’s a permit approved, so very confusing.
There are 3 different electric companies serving the county. Mine is AEP.

Also asked for price from another pole barn company. Asked first pole barn company for price for same size but 14’ tall instead of 12 ‘, with door big enough to put camper inside.

Supposed to settle next Monday. Haven’t heard yet if that’s doable.
