Electric vehicles during a disaster

If wikipedia says it's true, you can bank on it which is bs.
Historical Norway have always used water to power things, and when electricity became a thing we did use the same source to produce that, the first hydroelectric that was officially recognised was in 1882, we have potential to build a lot more but even hydroelectric have a environmental impact on wild life so most new plants are quite small, and mostly privately owned and operated.

I don't commute, I'm retired. When I have to go somewhere, I leave in ample time to get there....and my freeway speed is always 65 or just above that and I maintain my vehicle properly and actually check the air in the tires weekly. Something that is alien to a lot of people, including tractor owners. last time I checked here in Michigan the truck speed limit was 65.
Like I said, the scourge of commuters everywhere. ;)

I was listening to the radio today. An interesting topic came up. How would the people in Florida evacuate for hurricane in electric vehicles. it wouldn’t take much for the charging stations to be overwhelmed leaving thousands of motorists stranded as the storm approached.

The second part of the problem would be how do you function without a power grid to charge your electric vehicles. As of now I’ve seen the gas stations bring in generators to run the gas pumps. I don’t think there’s enough generators to recharge all the cars.

I then got to thinking about up north in the winter time and an ice storm/snow storm could also disable the power grid for a long time. One could also add in the problems with tornadoes and floods.

I thought it was an interesting question for all the greenies out there.
It's similar to ICE owners who fail to gas up before a storms hit.

We have some very crappy highways up here and some genius lawmaker raised the speed limit from 55 to 65. Ridiculous! That means that the boneheads are now traveling at 74. Tight curves, Mountains, Valleys, Ice and Snow, Rain, Critters and Pot-Holes are not conducive to High Speed! Add in lookeloos, road hunters, tourists, inattentive morons, military from down south and these roads are unsafe at any speed.

We have 2 Hydro Power Plants serving our small Co-Op. They work great from May-October and then they Freeze and it's back to Diesel Power at around $0.58 per KWH. Wanna plug in your EV here?

Candidly, I don't really care. Don't live there and don't want to.
Look what you're missing!

Whats worse is when evacuations begin, some will leave with only partially charged batteries, which will inevitably die and block traffic resulting in death and injury for those stuck behind the dead EVs.

Its just a matter of time before this becomes a regular event.
And 10 times as many gas cars will run out too.
