Field cars

I have a Ram Power Wagon ( 2019 ). I don't use it out on the property ( 80 acres ) - it's just too big. Besides that's why I have my Kubota M6040.

Anyhow - the Power Wagon does not have any attached implements. It's just a whole lot easier getting around the property on my ATV. Use the ATV for checking everything out and around the property. Use the tractor for fixing anything that needs fixing.

I took my daughter to a junk yard to find a rim for our car. The junk yard guy said he thought he had one way in back. Told us to hop in a beater car back seat. We did. He took off in reverse a few hundred yards through curves and such until we came to a pile of Impalas! We got out, looked around, he said how ’bout that one? We said OK, all hopped back into the car and took off in reverse again all the way around the yard back to the office. He said the car was stuck in reverse! Daughter and I had a blast.

He then took a large pay loader with forks back to the pile o’ Impalas, moved a few around, grabbed the one with the rim, brought it up to the office and removed the rim and tire. Great day!

When we finally sold that Impala, it had 189,000 on it. Mechanic who bought it sold it to his sister in-law. She drove it for a few years and sold it to a ‘bean field racer’. I asked what’s that? He said they take cars out and race them in a bean field.

Also said our Impala refused to participate in that humiliating event and died before they got into the field.

My brother-in-law got this "field car" for his farm this year. I'm a bit jealous.

First Field car also Model A Ford… good clearance, torque, gear ratio, mechanical brakes and gravity fuel tank all pluses.

Restored it so my new field car the last 25 years is the Samurai…

Be careful with Durango… brother bought new and excellent condition until the morning it gernaded…

Known issue with 5.7 Hemi and water pooling on intake manifold sucked into engine at start up through faulty gasket…

My field buggy is a Suzuki Samurai soft top. I put my spray rig in the back when spraying fields. Works like a charm and can go about anywhere with 4wd. Very popular around here and hard to find.

Younger brother had a '66 International Scout that in its last leg of life.... as in too unsafe to drive on the road, got turned in to a field car, and kept on our Dad's farm. It was a blast to drive around the fields and through the wooded sections with no roads. The SIL asked me to look at it and see if I could somehow restore to road worthy, as a birthday present for the brother, but it was just too far gone with rust. There was nothing left to the body to fasten anything to the frame. It lived on for 10 more years as a fun joy ride, till the body separated from the frame entirely.

Its my hope that once my '93 Festiva gets too worn out to be road safe, that it can live out the rest of its days as a field car on someone's farm, or get turned in to a light Race Car.

I had a 66’ International Scout back in the early 90’s. Had a 4 cylinder that probably had 50hp, flat glass, zero heat and the turning radius of a freight train. All that being said it was a tank and in low range damn near impossible to stop.
