If there are aliens, what will they look like?

There was a model line of laptops that were made by Toshiba. They were called "Satellites".. These would routinely be returned to us, because the buyer could not get on the internet. We always configured these for both Ethernet and WiFi, and knew they worked. Yet, we kept getting these returns. A bit confused, i started asking people about their Internet Provider and what sort of wireless network they had at home. And they all said they didn't need any of that, cause the computer clearly would get its internet free from "Satellites," since it was a Satellite laptop. And that some times it would work, if they were in town, and sometimes it wouldn't when they got home.

I don't think i ever got though the idea that they were connected to a public Wifi in town. And not through a satellite. Crazy... just sort of stays crazy...

I've got a couple of those Satellite Toshiba Lap tops. One is used exclusively to program several Toshiba TOSVERT Motor drives. The other one serves as a machine to "talk" to a GE PLC and assorted automation devices.

I always plug them in ethernet style....

The Sats were well built. Easy to fix and I still use my L35 as a source computer to an older large format printer. Newer ones don't have the right interfaces.

I was amused to the point that I would go out to greet these people with a tin hat. And they didn't think that was strange. I figure I was just trying to meet them mid-way.

Since no body knows exactly what an alien is supposed to look like - how do we know that they are not here amongst us. I've seen/met many folks who could easily have been from "elsewhere".

You never know Oosik... maybe Brownie is pretending to be a cute little cuddly dog and is really just an alien planning to take over the world!

Since the thread has been brought back to "some form of life" (NPI)...
one determining factor at least for advanced life forms that consume oxygen as a life force is physical size...
For instance...it is likely that should the Earth's atmosphere oxygen percentage would change...life forms breathing air like humans etc...would further evolve to make the adaptation...i.e., less 02 would require larger lung capacity...more or richer 02 less lung capacity...see the dinosaurs studies...

The was a period from the late Carboniferous to the Late Permian (approximately 317 to 247 million years ago.), when the O2 level was higher, around 30%, which allowed some rather large insets to exist, like dragon flys with a 3 foot wingspan and 6 foot long millipedes.

Still curious, I'm sure they repaint after every launch, they'd have to or the steel would rust. I bet they have a full time paint crew too.

Not talking about the launch pad, talking about the gantry. I envision them being like the Mackinaw Bridge here in Michigan. it has a full time paint crew that paints every day, spring, fall, winter and summer.

Don’t know about the launch pad, but I read something earlier today that in order to repaint the American Flag and the NASA logo on the side of the assembly building will take 500 gallons. That’s just the flag and logo, not the building.

They also use special concrete in the flame trenches that will stand the blast and heat. SpaceX discovered that problem when a Starship was damaged by flying concrete when it landed.
As far as the structure that is exposed to engine blast, I know the area at the base of the Saturn V launch pad was coated with an ablative paint that would withstand the engine blast from those five mighty F-1 engines.

I am flying back to my home town of Roswell NM to visit my family for a few days. I booked the flight months ago and it just so happens that they are having the 75th anniversary of the so called ufo crash in Roswell. It will be fun going down town and looking at all the wackos and nut jobs wondering around waiting to get probed, lol. The ufo crap is big income for the city, though. Lots of tourist dollars and my sister told me every single room in town is booked. Glad I’m staying with family. The fruit loops will come from all over the world. I might even run into some distant kin folk from the another galaxy, ooops did I say that, lol.
