Good morning!!!!

Overcast and 60F @ 15:30, not currently raining but LWS reports we got 0.13" since midnight. Winds mostly out of the NW @ 10 - 15 mph. Sun appears to be making an effort to come out.

Good day for an inside day which it has been.

Dishes washed and put away.

When I came inside at some point yesterday afternoon I found container of treats with its top off spilled on the kitchen floor by the refrigerator. The treats always get put back up into the pantry so stuff like that doesn't happen. Not sure what occurred, possible I did not put them away I suppose.

Think I will check the track lighting parts and see if I have the appropriate connectors to join individual sections of track together and working on getting that mounted on the dining room wall if so.

If not, I can at least get the hole cut in the wall for the new electrical box and get it mounted up with the wiring passed through.

Beyond that may try to get some of the veggie seedlings repotted and/or more seeds planted.

Just spoke to The Woman who is almost finished and She has picked up a slab of ribs up where She is at. I need to check the potatoes and get a couple in the oven to bake, assuming they aren't soft and haven't gone to seed.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday ... (y)

Anyone have any experience with push-type seeders - like an Earthway or Chapin - to plant vegetable seeds (beans, corn, etc.) ?

Worth it ?

Satisfied ?

Any insights appreciated.

Supposedly 62F @ 20:00 ... sun is out ... but sure feels a lot chillier out there than that.

Squash seeds popping:

Even the zucchini and yellow crookneck in the small containers are up. Need more hot, sunny days.

Got some potting soil sifted through The Woman's colander and vermiculite added for repotting. Probably won't be enough to do everything, but it will be enough for getting started.

It appears I have at least two of the connectors for the lighting track. Will be three 4' sections of track, so enough there as well.

Ribs were good, unfortunately no baked potatoes so had to settle for Bob Evan's mashed potatoes. I think I only had 3 or 4 bones ... now feeling stuffed and having a hard time getting motivated.

Woman just asked if I had planted the "yellow flowers" out back ...

Uhhh ... what yellow flowers ?

LOL ... nope ... sure didn't. But we'll take 'em ... (y)

After BEF's comments about regretting cutting down the "buttercups" a while back, I did a little research on something I've been seeing a lot of here and using Plant.ID found it to likely be Ranunculus abortivus or the littleleaf buttercup. I haven't walked back there to inspect and verify, but these may be those ... as we have them growing back behind the house.

FWIW, I'm fairly certain that the grouping in the very back has grown to that height (2'+) and bloomed within the last 24 - 36 hours. They weren't back there the other day when I mowed the lawn IIRC.

This is one of the birds which have nested in Nest Box No. 1:

Having trouble making a positive ID. Looks more a tree swallow to me, but have seen it or its mate following me when I'm on the Cub mowing. Looks more like a barn swallow at that point.

Hope everyone had a great Sunday ... (y)

used Earthway to plant my corn in NC, worked fine with proper seed disk

Thanks.

I used one here that I borrowed from a local friend quite a while back (15 or more years ago ?)

My recollection is pretty vague but I don't recall being all that impressed. But that might have been due to a lack of good preparation of the seed bed on my part and just my physical stamina at that point.

I do seem to recall that it was a far sight better than doing it all by hand though ... ;)

Managed to get all the pieces/parts and tool gathered up for the track lighting.

Also got a number of tomatoes and green bell peppers repotted into larger pots which should be good enough until they go in the ground. Found the general purpose Miracle-Gro plant food and mixed up a 1/2 strength batch of that and watered them in good.

I was in the process of moving the plants back out to garage and hadn't been gone a minute and that little Squeak managed to get over and nip a pepper plant.

Cat Grass seed can't get here soon enough.

Good afternoon. Bit of a 'cool' start to the day, 1.3C but it slowly warmed up to 15C during a cloudless day.

Got a good start on taking down the signage = 0930 start and home by 1430. I should be able to finish the last of them tomorrow. At least I got home in time that my wood-heater hadn't gone out.

Oh, and on my way home I got a call from the "Neighbourhood House/Community Garden" to stop in, which I did, and they gave me a 'Certificate of Appreciation' & a A$100 gift card (local hardware store) for my help (tractor FUN!) with the raised garden beds.

Take care all.
