Good evening low was 39° this morning, hit a high of 81°. Morning started out nice, then breezy at around noon, then the 40 mph winds kicked in around 14:30.

Today was a relatively easy day, moved the fencing materials over to where they will be used. Took the forks off, then just parked the tractor. Got out the weedwacker and hit a few areas along the drive and fence line. All the while monitoring the drip irrigation, and changing zones. Called it quits when the wind picked up.

This in contrast to spreading 70 bags of mulch yesterday! That kicked my butt... BUT it looks nice and the wifey is happy! That's what counts...

Did some steaks on the grill this afternoon, they were the best steaks we have had in years! Got them at a store called Shamrock Restaurant Supply. We have had them from there before, and they were good then too..... We haven't gotten any meat from there for about the last 5 years because you have to buy a hunk of meat, anywhere from 12-30 lbs. Found a 15lb one, I sliced it into 8-10oz. steaks.... got 12 meals (2 steaks each)stacked in the freezer.

Well worth the little inconvenience of having to slice the hunk up.... Prime NY strip ---- $8.67 per pound .... less than half the price at Costco.

Well, I thought it was an easy day..... after sitting a bit, I have realized that everything is really stiff..... time to go put the feet up.

A pic of the mulched bed... it's over 100' long and 6' wide.

The dirt area is going to get a stone walking path with additional beds placed throughout. That's another project for sometime this year....

Everyone have a great evening!

Good morning. Low of 13C and the predicted high is 19C, slightly overcast and breezy.

Chain-harrow/Z-turn mulch Paddock #6 is in the plans for this arvo. I'll then swap the hay spikes for the bucket to be ready for tomorrow's Community Garden job. There's only 6 raised-bed 'tubs' to fill so it shouldn't take long.

Take care all.

Went for a walk in the park today. 85˚F cloudy.
The town's Model A ford car club was there.
The yellow car had a built on wheel chair holder. Original owner?
The last pic was the ugly duckling that did not turn out to be a swan.

56F and fair @ 22:00, heading down to a low of 51F overnight. Closest LWS claims we hit a high of 78.8F today and WeatherBug says 76F so I'm guessing that it's possible. At any rate it was a beautiful afternoon.

Got hopper feeder refilled and cracked corn spread for the doves first thing.

After I moved the two seed trays with the tomatoes, bell peppers, eggplants, cakes, and coleus outside. Also moved out the 4 larger cuke plants that were in their own own pots.

Then went to work on screening some more potting soil for the marigolds. Didn't quite have enough to fill one of those 72 hole planting tray.

It had clouded up again after I started screening soil to fill up that tray but by the time I went out to get another pan to bake the sun was out again. Threw the next pan in the oven and let it bake while I went outside, intending to get the two new blueberry bushes planted.

As it worked out I didn't get that done, but I did get all around the north blueberry plant weeded and 2 1/2 cups of soil acidifier worked into the soil there. I was about to start on working the soil for the two new plants and a brief shower popped up and ran me inside.

At that point, I took the soil out of the oven and screened enough to fill and complete the first 72 hole tray. Then planted a marigold seed in each hole, covered them, move the tray to the aquarium stand in the dining room, used the little hand mister to wet soil, and then put the clear cover on.

About that time The Woman rolled up. We had discussed Her stopping on the way home and grabbing some hamburger and She was snapping and popping about "why no fire on the grill ?"

Told Her I figured She would call when She left The Acme ... like she usually does ("start the fire !!!" ... ;) )

Anyways, by the time she got the hamburgers made and the sideboard on the grill cleaned off, the charcoals were just about ready ... ;)

While the charcoals were getting hot I took the Cub up and dumped the weeds onto to the compost pile and dumped a bucket of rocks I had gathered earlier onto the rock pile.

Saw this guy in the dump cart when I went to empty it, figured it was probably just a wooly bear ... but after Don's experience I used the shovel to scoop him out and toss him on the compost pile:

Saw these two trees were in bloom on the way back down - one is an apple and the other might be a wild cherry:

Plan to clear the underbrush along that edge this year and open it up a little, sprayed it last year. Probably plant some wildflowers there.

Hosta crop at the big maple up by the shop still progressing nicely as well:

I had soaked some hickory chips so I threw those on the fire when I got back down to the house and got to grilling.

The hamburgers ended up tasting so good to me I ended up eating two of them which I typically don't do. Along with some potato salad and Bush's Baked Beans ... ended up stuffed ... :giggle:

After that watched some J. K. Rowling movie which was pretty enjoyable. A bowl of Peanut Butter Swirl ice cream sounds appealing ... but truthfully I'm still too full.

Might have a go at the next 72 hole planting tray and see how it seems after that.

In case anyone is wondering, an ounce of marigold seed is a lot ... probably in the thousands ...

Hope everyone had a great Sunday ... (y)

LS,

Great job.

By the time you're done with it, it will truly be an oasis.

MG, The chain-harrowing/mulching went well and the wee mare was alone... for a few hours until her other paddock-mate returned from the muster.

Unfortunately, the mare is more of a 'lead' pony so she doesn't get included when her paddock-mate goes away on excursions or to 'pony club'. I well know that horses are herd animals and need a companion for many reasons.
