Good morning, low temp is 31 and going to a high of 46°F. Wind ESE 6 mph. Mostly cloudy. :(

I got the power washer back and the mechanic taught me how to relieve the lock if it ever hydro-locks again.

Eye appointment set up for all three of us for Friday in North Bay. I am hoping there isn't any change in my eyes so I don't need new glasses.

You guys are planting and I still have a foot of snow on my lawn.:(

Have a safe day all

Good Morning
It’s 35 with a high of 55 today, rain likely this evening.

Yesterday was a busy day, answering questions, checking boxes, and making arrangements, with wood work in between. Made good progress on all fronts.

There is no determination of the cause yet, but the stainless steel oil tank blew up like a balloon, tearing itself off the mounts. There is a rental engine on its way, as well as a team to accomplish the swap. Here are pictures of a normal tank, and the one from the failed engine. It’s interesting to see the number of theories that we have come up with, be more interesting to figure out which one, if any were right. It took a lot of pressure to do that much deformation.

Today will be more woodwork, less paperwork, maybe a trip to Drew’s in the afternoon.

46 and light rain, going to 70.

Pop, that looks crazy. Hope you get it figured out. When something like that happens is there extra paperwork to do for the FAA?

Had a nice hike to the river yesterday while waiting for it to warm up enough to do some caulking on the trim...had to remove some stubborn old caulk, but got it done. Then joined the ranks of you that have been mowing...mowed the whole yard for the first time this season.

The highway department was redigging part of the ditch in front of the frisbee field...nice attachment on the big John Deere. I walked over and talked...turns out one of the guys working is the beekeeper that came and gathered the swarm from our tree last August. He said be on the lookout for them in the next month since some that escaped may come back to this tree.

47 headed to 67 today, rain moving in with 2”-3” expected over the next three days.
My neck is a little sore from looking back at the land plane yesterday, but I got those clam shells nice and level. I hadn’t done that in a couple of years and it showed, boy those things get like concrete the longer they’re there and the smaller the pieces get.
My 86 year old father in law climbed in top of the big garage and nailed some flashing into place, he amazes me. I had to move a huge limb that had fallen, it fell right where I’d been mowing the day before.
My dogwood is starting to bloom, peach trees are blooming and apple trees are about to bloom. Might some peaches this year if another freeze doesn’t come along. I had a bumper crop of apples last year, one tree got so heavy it leaned almost to the ground, I had to pull it up and stare it.
My next two jobs are to spray weeds and wash the house and buildings.
Have a good day folks.

You can’t bee too careful.

Morning all, 39 going up to 55 and cloudy, rain is doing a return run for a few days.
Got 4 stumps flat cut and started get branches and trunks bucked.
Went through a little over two tanks of gas and only stopped when the chain started getting dull.
Need to clear this section our for planting and it has 6 trees down from 20" to way over 30" at the cut, so the stumps are huge.

Roy- never stop antibiotics until full course is run- hope you feel better

PopG - looks like boiled oil pressurized the tank ? Can't think compressed air could do that, but I have seen what happens to dive tanks when they fail.....

Randy - falling branches are why I can't clear some sections around the trails. Need to be careful when they fall, especially from any height. Glad your timing was good to not see that one come down.

Looks like the deer etc. have eaten most of the Crocus, flowers and leaves. Oh well.

Stay safe and be well,

Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 4:30AM. Abundant sunshine. High 76F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.

Glad to learn that there are now more modern, and humane, dog deterrents out there, Paul. And that they work!

Caretaker unit is coming right along, David. What's the next project?

If you want something done right, ya gotta do it yourself, Rich. But that doesn't stop most Previous Owners from being very proud of their work! 🤬

Sounds like you're in good hands, Drew. My guess is there's some corrosion going on somewhere. You know about DeOxIt, right?

Glad you had a happy landing, Paul. Also curious what could cause that kind of over pressure.

Workers showed up right on time yesterday, and right away the rippers on the dozer cut down a bunch of exposed rock I've been bouncing over for a dozen years. No problem at all. They found more rocks up at the top, but no bedrock, and managed to cut down about four feet before quittin' time. I now have several large piles of dirt for other projects, and we've literally only scratched the surface.

To stay out of the way, I started knocking down more dead manzanita with the grapple. More very steep ground, and half expected to get stuck but didn't. Built the burn pile back up, and still have several more trees to go. What a difference getting rid of all those stark gray ghosts.

But the contractor needs a bit of machining, so if he shows up with the steel this morning, that's what I'll be doing instead.

As expected, they cut through the land line in the first hour, and I'm surprised and happy that the cellular phone is now working just fine here, for the first time ever. It even works in the house. I don't know if it's the newer phone or Verizon improving its towers, but no more dropped calls, or calls that won't even go through. And the voice quality is so much better than the land line, too.

Toppop, would be good to thin out the apples a little, any where you have too many close together, sacrifice a few and remaining will be bigger and less concern for tree damage in high winds.

Sounds like you're in good hands, Drew. My guess is there's some corrosion going on somewhere. You know about DeOxIt, right?
Yes, thanks, have a can. This is an almost new gen and I've taken everything apart and plugged back together, it all looked clean inside.
but I haven't taken the panel off to look behind it, so honestly don't know.
Going to read manual, see if any suggestions.
The light below the start button does not illuminate when the run button is on, even with fully charged battery and charger running.

43F and gray. Weather is calling for rain afternoon.

I saw that a few of you guys are using EGO mowers and I have been thinking about it. I see that ACE hardware is having a sale on the power + select cut mower. I can't quite figure out the differences between the different models. Man those batteries are expensive.

I was at the doctor's yesterday to get my yearly blood work done. On the way out there was a lady coughing up a storm. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Even if it was just a cold I don't want it.

Hope Spring is coming

Chris
