If there are aliens, what will they look like?

On the June 21'st we traveled to Europe from the PNW. The sun never set on the plane flight doing its great arch in the North. It was weird to have a day that didn't set.

Its been so fun to see sci-fi "re-discover" the Tardigrades. For modern sci-fi writers there is a two year lag time. :) it doesn't make them alien that their DNA is so odd. Just that they are also survivors of a few mass extinctions, for which we can find no other genetic codes from, cause those are lost.

Flat earth. It's a lost cause. Lets move on to something where folks have a grasp of reality.

Oh, but it's for the kids!

In your video "proving the rocket hit something" you want us to believe you, yet the same video shows the curvature of the earth which I am sure you will make up some "proof" that it really is not showing that.
Your boy Neil DeGrasse Tyson explaining why Felix Bumgartner, at 168,000 ft couldn't see the curvature of the earth and the video show was a wide angle lens. 🤣

How do you explain this?

Even in your world, it would have been west, not east.
Which direction does your globe earth rotate? I never can keep the fiction straight. 🤣

Point is, which you know, that Felix shouldn't have landed almost the same spot he launched if the earth is rotating at 1,000 mph.

Beam me up Scotty!

Know you have me thinking....

Does the flat earth model have an alternative description of the sun?
Or do the sun and stars remain thermo-nuclear balls of Hydrogen/ Helium plasma?

Interesting thought.

I can only explain what the sun and moon are based on Genesis 1:16. The sun is a light and the moon is a light (self luminescent).

Not all flat earth believers are religious, but most are.

The "remaining in one spot " sequence is easily explained by prevailing winds at the time. A fluid medium moving with it's containment. Not different than a fish in a moving stream. With different wind conditions, the landing could be much different.

Around the world in 80 days.

A quick look here
earth :: a global map of wind, weather, and ocean conditions

with the height set to 70hPa Itwill show some interesting air movements and circulations. Winds aloft? Or winds of Fate!

N.B. All depictions on this application show a FLAT world. But what can one expect from a computer screen? ;-)

How I know the earth is a sphere.

I set up a theodolite, I went in a straight line for four miles, turned 90-degrees left, went another four miles. Then turned another 90-degrees left, and went four miles. And then turned another 90-degrees left, and ran another four miles. If the earth us flat, I should have been close to where I started. But, I ended up quite aways away from where I started. Because planar trigonometry doesn’t work at all well on a sphere.
For all the readers I had to look up the word Theodolite.
A theodolite is a precision optical instrument for measuring angles between designated visible points in the horizontal and vertical planes. The traditional use has been for land surveying but it is also used extensively for building and infrastructure construction.

I have nothing to add to your observations because I wasn't there. But I do know if the earth were a sphere at almost 8000 miles in diameter the pythagorean theorem would prove the you shouldn't see boats or buildings beyond 50 miles. This isn't the case.

It might be "easily" explained but in the end your explanation is a belief which doesn't fit the "science" of a 1,000 mph rotating globe. So the prevailing winds just so happened to negate the rotational velocity (at the speed of sound) of the earth? Hard to believe.

Think of it, If you are in a moving train car, regardless of how fast the train is moving, EVERYTHING in your immediate surroundings remains motionless. (disregard the jiggle of the track gaps)

I think it was that Einstein fellow who pointed out that from the perspective of someone on the earth, relative motions were difficult if not impossible to detect.

Here is an interesting aside...

Some time back, I read... on the topic of global warming. a rather good paper published by NASA or NAOA or sum such. There was much brought out on solar radiation, atmospheric absorption , reflection Libido and sundry.

Bottom line was what struck me. Any increase in the earths atmospheric energy (heat) would be manifest as increased WIND, and dissipated as FRICTION across the earth's surface. I could find no fault in the paper. And am happy to accept a windy world.

Perhaps these wind generators are ahead of their time!

We know that wind is created by the irregular movement of surface air caused by the wavering and/or oscillation of trees.

Obviously upper air currents are caused by hot air balloons, birds, camera drones, and airplanes.

Anyway, tho was the guy who enlightened us that too many windmills would interrupt winds, acting like brakes to stop the planet frim rotating? Seems he wouldn't be convinced otherwise.

You want to know Good Gravy? Baumgartner capsule, in the Red Bull Jump, was launched from Roswell International Air Center. His ascent took approximately 2 1/2 after which the capsule levelled at approximately 24 mi in elevation. He jumped and 9 minutes later landed near Roswell New Mexico just 23 miles from his launch point.

I guess the earth stopped rotating for approximately 3 hours. :ROFLMAO:
Watch this on inertial guidance.
edit youtube removed -here is another on the same subject

Draper, Siemens and some other MIT folks really advanced our understanding of "place"

You can't keep your fiction straight is the correct answer.

The earth rotates west to east. That's why we see the sunrise in the east.
IF your misguided example of "if he went up and the earth rotated under him, he should have landed somewhere else" actually worked, he'd have had to land west of where he left from, not east as you stated.

Not only are you not keeping your fiction straight, you're not keeping your defense of your fiction straight.

Where is the south pole on a flat earth map?

This doesn't look like an ice wall:

And there is this place, not even on the edge?

People can go to Antarctica and see for themselves.

Bruce
I read an article where someone was at a flat earth convention and had an honest discussion with one of them. He asked the flat earth believer if there was an airplane flight available that flew over the south pole, would he like to be treated to that flight, cost free, just so he could see for himself? The flat earth believer said yes, he'd like to see that. So the guy found a commercial airline flight from somewhere in New Zealand to somewhere in South America and said here we go.... then the flat earther turned him down. He got scared that what he might see would not jibe with his entire way of thinking how the world worked.

I'm from the have to see it to believe it school of thought. So far, everything I've seen corresponds to a round earth. Nothing I've seen with my own eyes has presented itself as supporting a flat earth.

From watching sunsets from land, sea, and air.
From watching ships sailing away from me over the horizon.
From looking at round planets through telescopes since I was a toddler.
From looking at all the phases of the the moon through telescopes since I was a toddler (it doesn't give off it's own light).
From watching solar and lunar eclipses since I was in grade school.
From watching a space shuttle launch in Florida (actually 2 of them).
From viewing the Chicago skyline from just about every point around the lower section of Lake Michigan from East Chicago all the way to St. Joe/Benton Harbor since I was a toddler.
From going to the observation deck of the Willis Tower (used to be the Sears Tower).
From being an art student since I was a toddler and learning about the actual meaning of the word 'perspective' (It's the first large word I taught both of my children).

All of those things I've seen in person. Not on TV. Not on the big screen. In person, right in front of me...

From all that, I've concluded that so far, the world is round.

People that insist the world is flat will turn down every opportunity to go with you to witness things for themselves. They are scared to test their faith. Faith should be tested. It's the way you discover truth. It's how science works. You test to make things fail. If they fail, they were faulty. If they pass, they are still correct. And you keep testing and testing and testing.
