Uh, the green is the chloroform which most plants need to create photosynthesis.

It's very highly unlikely that we are the only planet in the entire vast universe that holds life. That would mean that we are here purely by luck... and I don't believe in luck.

As Ellie Arroway (Jodie Foster) said in Contact, if it's just us, it's an awful waste of space.

Current thinking says a biological unit can not live long enough to make the interstellar trip. It's most likely to be computer synthesized units or some form of probe.

Mushroom SPOOR can make the trip. From anywhere. Tough little bundles of life they are.

For a good long time, the first life on earth used C02. Its the original atmosphere of this planet, just like Mars.

It changed to O2 by bacteria and killed nearly all other live forms on the planet. The biggest extinction event we know of.

So, we know that happened. So other life forms can use C02 and evolve and find O2 to be toxic.

If the first life here was C02 based, and it was a freak event that bacteria would off gas O2, this would be a toxic planet to the majority of life of other worlds. Cause maybe that freak event didn't happen on their world and they stayed CO2 based.

Aliens might not recognize Green as a good color. You will notice that there are two colors of leaves that trees and plants use. One is green and the other is sort of Violet. They are very close as to spectral reflection, and there is speculation that the Sun changed up its light waves, at some point, to favor green plants. Other wise the Earth wouldn't be called "Green." It would be called the "Violet Earth."

There are SO many reasons, WE shouldn't be here at all.

To think some something else is out there, and is remotely possible to be able contact us, is just pure fantasy. And a way for people to sell books, and movie/TV scripts. ALL SCI-FI is political........ It always has been.

So there are UFOs. But they are not extraterrestrial aliens.

Now (and for the past several millions of years) those little buggers break down the plants and dinosaurs and turn them into gas. It's like a dead and bloated cow out in the field. No oil or coal to be had in any lifetime.

Are you aware of the theory that says that petroleum is created by processes within the earth and is not dependent on decay of plant and animal life?

At 10% percent of C, it would take 45 years to send something to Alpha Centuria, and Proxima b, and what it found, using laser accelerated micro devices would take 45 years to get there and just over 4.5 years to get a signal back to us. If we could read it, which would take years to decipher. And to read it, one would need a dedicated receiving system the size of half the planet. And there is no way to slow down the probe from 10% of C. And no way to get any meaningful info from a fly by that fast. We don't have the ability to slow it down.
They, if there are aliens, so far, Poxima b are not sending any signals we see though, and that planet had 90 years or so, to pick up signals from us and attempt a return signal to us if there was intelligent life. They could have called back. They didn't.

As one astronomer put it, we are expecting some sort of pizza parlor in space, with every one wearing funny hats.

The next solar system is much further away. Barnard's Star, As are all the others.... very, very far away still at only 6 light years away. Exhaust those as exoplanets and things get very much further away again.
In the way we view physics, communication of other worlds that may have intellectual life is near impossible. They could be out there. But the distances are so extreme, and the time involved is so vast, that if C is the speed limit, it doesn't matter.

If there is other intelligent life out there, they are also islands of intelligent life.

There in is the problem. One can not sell a book telling people the terrible reality of it.

With out some sort of sci-fi theatrical convention, we have no meaningful method of communication with Aliens.

Statistically, they are there in the vastness of the universe. Just not in this Milky Way Galaxy.
Realistically, they are not: And left to our imaginations to make up fantastic stuff.

And if a tree falls in the forest, and no one is there, does it make a sound. If you are close enough for it, it makes a sound...... too distant, it does not make a sound.

If you are too far away, you can't hear it cause it took 2 million years to hear it, at which point what the hell was the message: A two million year old message.

And once decoded, using everything we, using Supercomputers, in an adjoined effort around the world, found it was some long distant teenager that was expressing teenage angst.

Now if you don't believe that is possible, how likely will it be that long chain amino acids will form it the right way and result in a protein molecule?
