Amazon?

Can't speak for anyone else..... only myself. Over the years of 2019, 2020 and 2021, I have placed an average of 74 orders each year. I have paid $0 shipping and all were delivered. I would guess that each shipped order cost would start at about $15 each - Via Fedex and/or UPS. $15 x 74 orders would cost around $1,110 per year. Now, the $99 - $130 Prime fee looks to be a better deal for my use. And, the shipping cost has gone up. Now the average seems to be about $18.

Amazon works for me and so does Prime. If it does not work for others, then they should not use Amazon or Prime.
Agree COMPLETELY ! Amazon Prime works for me. Aside from saving on shipping if you order a lot through them (which I do), and saving TIME, and WEAR and TEAR on vehicle (my closest stores are 15 -20 miles) and FUEL COST, I can find what I want. So many places here, ACE / Home Depot / Farm Supply... I get there and they are either out of stock or, do not have exactly what I want.
My cousin works in an Amazon warehouse and complains it is a sweatshop. They want you to keep moving all the time pulling orders. I can only laugh and say "find an new job then".

You do realize that orders over $25 also qualify for "free" shipping, albeit a bit slower. How hard is it to wait until you have a $25 order?
Amazon may be convenient, but they are often more expensive than other sources.
I wouldn't say "often". No, they're not always cheaper but usually. No one has the best price on everything.

I honestly dont understand how anyone shops on walmart online. I was looking for dentastix for my dog as costco was out. Costco sells 55 pack of large for $16.99, usually also on sale for $6 off of this price.

went to wallmart online. A06E914D-DE7D-4DB6-84AE-39F6362140CF.png $49.70…..for 62 pack.

went to tractor supply, got a package of 40 for $14.99.

walmart sucks

Where items are manufactured and by who is not controlled by Amazon (like it is for Apple).
I can get tools from US, Germany, China etc. on their site.

To a point yes, but Amazon has its own branded products and they do select the country of manufacture. Walmart, Costco and others they all have private brands. And they choose where they come from.
Companies are no different than us price drives everything.

Yep, I do. I also remember the days of ordering from eBay and waiting 2-3 weeks. not knowing when and If you would get it. And that is another reason I use Amazon. I guess most items I order it would not be hard to wait a week to 10 days but most times, it is products needed to complete a project. But I have more confidence in orders with shipping dates and fulfilled by Amazon.com. I don't know your experiences, but I am sure they may be different than mine. And many of those things you cannot purchase locally are under $25. A few examples would be Kydex molding plastic - Univen wire mixer whip for Kitchenaid stand mixer - Barn door floor guide rollers - and about 100 more.

That mixer whip is the standard one that comes with the Kitchenaid stand mixer. COST $12.95. Without prime - shipping is about $15. Many of these things must be ordered. I have no interest in having to pay $15 for an item under $25. The faster speed is just an added benefit of what I purchase.

You are right about one thing. When my wife says - can't use my mixer - I don't say - wait until next week. I can order it and get it tomorrow. Same way with something like an oven ignitor.

How hard is it to wait ? I guess it is how soon do you need it. Where you get it. What it is and other factors.

Speaking of other factors, We have a place at the lake. We are both retired. There is nothing more fun than ordering a package that might be here in a week and is not until you are not home for some time. Makes you wish you did not order it. Or even better, makes it wish you ordered on Amazon with Prime. Good luck finding it if ever.

I hope this helps clarify this statement - "Amazon works for me and so does Prime. If it does not work for others, then they should not use Amazon or Prime."

The other thing about walmart is the 3rd party sellers (like this one, really hose ya). Be careful out there!

I am a little bewildered by so many people seem to resent Amazon and their progress to success. There are many retail choices we all must make - everyday. I don't like Jeff Bezos. I don't dislike Jeff Bezos. I DON'T KNOW JEFF BEZOS. Is Amazon a sweatshop? I don't know. But they do OFFER JOBS. And again, whether you accept or reject that opportunity seems to be an individual choice. If there are so many jobs out there that are BETTER, then choose one of them.

There are choices everywhere. That is the beauty of our country. I CHOOSE NOT to order from Pennys. My wife wanted me to order five shirts for her from them. They were on sale. I did so. We live north the river in KC, near Liberty Missouri. I had them shipped to the Liberty store. Waited 2 weeks. Got tired of waiting. Then called Pennys.

Great - they sent 3 of the shirts to Oak Park Mall in Lenexa Kansas. About 40 miles away. The other 2 were at Liberty. My experience has never been like other things I have experienced with other retail stores.

My experience has, for the most part, been exceptional. A month ago, an order from Amazon was delivered to the wrong house. They had a picture of the package at the door. It was not our house. I was fortunate when my wife said - that is the door down the street. I went and got it. Before my wife ago involved, I reported the loss to Amazon. In about 5 minutes, I receive a response asking if it was resolved or still missing. I said NO. I received another response - Would you like us to call you to refund or get the delivery corrected. I thought that was pretty good. Should that one experience out of years make me Hate Amazon?

There really is a reason they make money. They have led the way in online sales and delivery. There are really other companies that seem to make different choices. I think Cerner is one. They have expanded and become very big in KC. Covid came. They developed a process the let them continue to let people work at home. From what I understand they put a heavy load on their workers. But I also understand they pay very well. Working for them is an opportunity, and workers have to choose.

Well, sorry for the rant. But why? Isn't it better to have success in business and job opportunities in our state? At least jobs are available. Better than nothing there to choose from. Is NY better off since they did not expand there? What was the lost opportunity - 100,000 jobs with an income of $150,000. How is that better for anyone looking for work ----if anyone is still doing that.

Turns out ... neither.

Got to the local UPS hub this morning and there it sat. Never made it onto the truck despite the 'update' notice this morning saying delivery today. Now it says tomorrow ... maybe.
Ahhh, finally.

Why is it that UPS trucks have such a distinct sound signature? I didn't even have to see it. I knew from the sound as it pulled away.

I honestly dont understand how anyone shops on walmart online.

walmart sucks
In a lot more ways than that.

Our neighbor down the street says that his dog goes nuts when it hears a UPS truck within a block away. Only UPS. There must be a difference in the way it sounds.
