Good morning!!!!

Morning all , sun is out and it's 9F, so guess the snow will be around for a bit.

We had a rabbit hutch in MA, but never kept rabbits as the house was not always occupied.
Best rabbit dish I had was in Trier Germany.
Bacalao - too salty for me, staple in Portugal, and in many port towns along the eastern seaboard. Havn't had it since I was a kid, think up in Boston area.

PopG - hope you make it back in time. Glad the weather has improved for your flight.

Snow was only 6" here, my brother on LI had over 12" and no plows-his area has one road in/out and it was blocked as usual. He would need a boat to go anywhere today.

Stay safe and be well,

In the US we have some nice train stations, but the trip to Seville in Spain showed how even the poorer countries in Europe have amazing transportation hubs and stations and real high speed trains.

Good morning to all! Low of 18°, going up to a balmy 46°. Cloudy for now.
The weather guessers are predicting a large snowstorm starting late Tuesday night and continuing through Thursday morning.

Amounts are usually not predicted until the "day of-" because of the varied topography. The most they show right now is the multi-shaded white to blue coverage map....we are in a 'dark blue' area which means heavier amounts of snow. We'll see..... might change to blue skies and 65 by then!

Saw a Rocky Mountain bluebird on the fence this morning. They usually don't start showing back up around here until early March. I guess the warmer temps allowed them to stay further north this year. It was too fast for me to get a pic. Vivid deep sky blue.

I didn't get 'tuit' yesterday, decided to conserve energy and recharge my battery banks. Made sure that the pellet stove was running at peak efficiency, then checked that the TV was receiving all the channels it was supposed to get. Finished up the day watching a movie on the inside of my eyelids.

I need to get out to the shop today and get something started.... just to maintain the home front homeostasis.

Everyone have a great day!

61°F and no rain

While normally I’d be thinking about watching some football, conserve energy, not today. I and others are gathering about kickoff time to assist my cottage tenant move to their new house, a joyous, long awaited occasion for them. Their container of household goods not due to arrive until mid Feb so they will be living rather minimally. A bed and patio set their only furniture.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

cold morning at church, plus I walked in and was promptly told by caretaker we were about to run out of fuel oil.
Really? aren't we on automatic?
fuel oil folks came out with 15 gallons in the middle of service to get us by until tomorrow. Meeting stayed at 66 so we were plenty warm.
Many of these Quakers are pretty frugal and keep a cold house in the winter. Not me............
Going to have long talk with caretakers about paying more attention to our single 275 tank in cold weather.
Fixing frozen pipes in a 300 year old building is surely to be avoided.

when I got there snow plow guy was back resalting after blowing snow last night. That makes it a $650 snowstorm.
With nursery school opening tomorrow morning at 9am, just had to get done. I went out and thanked the guy for such good service.
He smiled all the way to the bank. Which is the way it should be, just keep folks from falling and hurting themselves.

11 folks on zoom this morning, 8 in Meeting. One zoomed in from Florida where she was freezing her tail off saying Florida heaters don't work and it was mighty cold there
this morning also. I asked her if she saw any iguanas dropping but not yet. I know my other friends down there will take pics if they find them.
They usually aren't dead and warm up later, but like freezing a head of lettuce, wonder how good that is for you....

friends say it's 60 and bright blue skies in DelRay Beach, watching the boats go by.
Sigh.

24°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 38° today. 33° right now at 12:34.

Need to take a walk out through the pasture today to try to find some screw-in anchors used for The Wife's dog agility equipment. We had trouble finding a few when we moved the equipment, but now that the grass has finally turned brown, they should be easier to see. Other than that, nothing pressing on the agenda. Need to change some guitar strings, so there's that.

Drew, my Wife's grandmother was always fearful that she would run out of LP gas in the 200 gallon tank. She would ask us to go out and check it several times a week. I never saw it get below 50%. Our supplier has always been good about keeping us in gas. They know what we use on average, and when to come and top us off. The Wife and I still tease each other regularly about that, though, asking each other if it's been checked today.

Stay warm, fellas.

One of my friends in Ft. Myers posted on Facebook this morning a screen shot of his phone showing it was 38° there this morning. That's pretty chilly for south FLA.

Spent a little time working out in the woodshed. For the newcomers, I don’t have a working wood stove right now, but had at least a cord of wood I brought from my last house 25 yrs ago. I built a woodshed behind my shed. Over time the roof material blew off, it never got fixed, and roof rotted. So some of the wood is rotted, some still very good. I use it for camping and the fire pit at the house. I cut dead trees and add to it.
Decided winter was the best time to clean it up, because in the summer there’s snakes and bees. I’m putting the good wood in a tote, been burning the rotten stuff along with other rotten wood pieces.

The back row of wood is frozen together, so used forks on FEL and got a big frozen bunch moved out into the sun to thaw.

My helper was a little less helpful today. But when I went back into house, it came in and slept on my lap after a grueling outdoor nap.

Was too windy to burn today, but got more ready to go.

Spent a good bit of time trying to locate pictures from a Minnesota/ Wisconsin trip back in 1997. I know I have them, but can’t find on 3 computers and a backup drive. I know I scanned them, remember looking at them before. Got a feeling they were never labeled, or miss labeled and are in a wrong directory.

Tonight’s state picture is Alabama, going alphabetical by abbreviation.

Desoto falls in little river canyon up on lookout mountain outside of Fort Payne. Been here twice, used to have a friend live close to here. The group Alabama sing about this river, and they live real close to it. I’ve driven by Randy Owens and Jeff Cooks houses.. Randy has a working cattle farm, and there are YouTube videos of him on his tractor. Lovely mountain.

My mom and dad were raised on Sand Mountain very close to there.
