Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #143,561
I'm days behind on posts...I'm only up to this past Monday. I'll have to catch up later.

Just wanted to give a quick update on my mom. Thanks for the prayers!

My mom had elevated levels of troponin when she got to the hospital, short of breath. She was diagnosed with humanmetapneumo virus, which caused pneumonia, which caused the breathing difficulty. This might have caused the anxieties which might have caused a small heart attack in the lower left part of her heart. She is scheduled for a catherization heart surgery, possibly a stent or ablation tomorrow. Long term care is still a big question mark.

I pray Sophie's surgery went well.

Sorry to hear if your moms problems, prayers.

Good evening to all! High today hit 45 after a morning low of 19. Wind kicked up a bit this afternoon, gusts around 35.

Tomorrow is supposed to be nice, no wind in the areas we will be traveling..... I hope so, it wouldn't be fun driving 7 hours x2 (430 miles each way) fighting wind. We are going to make the round trip in one day, so gonna hit the rack early tonight. We hope to be on the road by 6 am. That way I'll get across the big city before rush hour.

David, glad Sophie's procedure went well. Still sending + thoughts / prayers your way.

Kyle, extra prayers sent to you and your family. Hope your mom recovers quickly.

Drew, we have the same philosophy about tolerance and acceptance. Being in the medical field, you treat a 'person', no matter what color, size, language, nationality, or gender. We are all human....

I hope that everyone without power or having struggles due to the storm make it through ok.

I have given up on having thoughts of attempting to build another house.... direct the show, maybe,.... but I don't think I can frame or do any heavy work anymore. Besides, it would take waaay too long at the pace I move now.

I checked, double checked, and triple checked my list for tomorrow's trip.... I just have this odd feeling that I am forgetting something..... I guess I'll find out soon enough!

Everyone have a great evening!

Thanks for the update Kyle.
Sounds like they have the symptoms and elevated levels of troponin figured out. Hopefully the Heart Cath will locate and fix the underlying problem. Continuing the prayers.

   / Good morning!!!! #143,565
Good morning! Was 16 when I got up, supposed to get to 37 later. Rest of the week is a bit of a roller coaster of temps and types of moisture coming from the sky.

Truck tires are healed. Local independent tire dealer I have used for years was able to fix the tire. So now to get ready to head south.

Hope everyone gets dug out, gets power back, etc. Looks like a mess.

Going to FL for the start of flat track season. 3 days of practice/racing this weekend. There is gonna be a lot of the top pro and amateur riders there.

Better get moving and get the trailer ready to go.

Everyone stay safe out there!
Enjoy the trip. Taking the 'taco?
Just got off phone with my son. Been sitting on US 1 for hours north of Fredericksburg for hours. His first run on a north/south route Harrisburg to Miami and back. Should have kept his east to west coast run for a few more months.
Sorry he got slowed down.
Good morning! 36˚F, sunny skies, heading to the mid 60s.

One of our volunteer firefighters from the last place I lived, on the farm, died over the weekend. He was at the store and collapsed, Ambulance heard a faint heartbeat and took him to closest hospital 30 minutes away, but ambulance had already traveled 10 miles to get to the store. The closest hospital could not do anything and the air flight to Austin was called. The distance to a qualifying medical facility is very important and should be a consideration when you retire. To make the story more sad his brother died 3 days later.

My wife sure did like the close hospital during my last surgery. I like it also because the painful ride home was short. I'm on the knee flex machine this morning getting it warmed up for my afternoon PT. The knee machine goes back tomorrow. Only 3 weeks were recommended by the Dr., after that you need to use your own muscles more to flex, I agree.
Yes, our town is a medical desert.
Good Morning.
I got up to let the dog out a few hours ago, it was 29 and freezing rain and sleet. Came back inside and got back under the warm covers until now. It’s gone all the way up to 31, with no precipitation, might make it to 40 under cloudy skies.

Yesterday was spent mostly in the shop fixing stuff.
I have been welding things together for almost 60 years, using most of all the available processes. I have avoided MIG welding for the most part, I always thought that it fell between TIG and stick for usefulness.
Then someone gave me a broken MIG welder, which I promptly fixed, and used sporadically. After a while, it started to be the machine I used for most quick repairs, it’s like a hot glue gun for metal. So when it stopped working yesterday, I immediately went out and bought a new Hobart. After I set up it up and welded what I was working on, I took a look at the old machine to see if anything was useable on the Hobart. That was when I saw why it stopped working. The electrical conductor in the gun connector had pulled away from the body of the connector. I made a new crimp sleeve out of a piece of copper tubing, crimped back together, covered it all with a piece of heavy heat shrink, and it’s as good as new. I’ve already found a new home for it, so it’s going to be someone else’s free MIG welder.
Next project was to look at another free device, this time a jumper box with air compressor and 100 watt AC inverter. It had a stone dead battery, and this time, I didn’t take the bait. I took the battery along with my other dead batteries to the recycler and got my $16 in dollar coins and two dollar bills. If you were local to me, that would tell you where I took them.

Today I’m going to have to find a few things to weld, and decide whether to MIG or TIG them…….

SIPS construction has intrigued me, but I have always stick built with sprayed in urethane from under the slab, to the roof. The end result is about as tight as you can get.
Didn't you just buy an inverter Mig welding machine???

Ken, hope family gets well, as well as Bupps, Topps, and those in need.

Thank you all for the kind thoughts and prayers.

I try to treat all persons.....well, like persons....and how I'd like to get treated in return....but I don't believe it's fair for some to compete outside of what's stamped on their birth certificate.

Day got turned around. Minutes before we were to leave this morning Dr ofc called to change Sophie’s appoint to afternoon due to flight delay.

Dr pleased with way her eye looked but wants to see her again Friday. Instructed to sit on sofa and do nothing. Bending and lifting can cause undue stress.
