It's no problem, the tow truck just picks up the car and drops it of at the closest charge station.

And the problem is not that big, most EV owners will know the car and it's limitations.
Yes, plus the ICE apologists haven't run a modern FI engine out of gas recently. They don't always restart. Many require a minimum of 5 gallons to reset the safety. And then many fuel systems have lost their prime requiring special effort to get the air out.

Changed the water separation filter on my 2008 F-250 Powerstroke diesel. Lost the fuel system prime. Ford tool expensive, and dealer was a tow truck away. Internet search suggested I loosen a particular banjo bolt surrounded with a rag. Then cycle the ignition switch from fully off to on, let fuel pump run its 20-30 seconds. Ignition off. Repeat until the bubbles stop and liquid comes out.

If engine does not start the fuel pump stops in 15-30 seconds after the ignition is turned on. There is no point in trying to start after that. Turn the ignition off, let it reset, then try again. Sometimes this alone can push the air out but on the Powerstroke the air needed someplace to go.

So, quite often the tow truck driver tows the ICE which has run out of fuel. But lets pretend this is somehow different from towing an EV which has run its battery dead. Anyone actually seen an EV with dead battery but for a few staged pictures on the internet?

Washington Post has an active imagination. (Their choice of words, not mine.)

You cite the opinion column to back your position?
Well since we do not have 100% EV, I see it's logical to see how this could have been different with EV's.

The result is not good...

Probably will make a comeback when nations governments realize that “green” energy is so expensive the average person cant afford it.

NUKES
"Green" is not about the environment but upending free market capitalism. "Free markets can not price the 'environmental impact' of evil carbon so we must enact totalitarian centralized government economic controls!"

So we have CO2 as the designated boogyman. A harmless beneficial gas necessary for life on Earth. We have centralized totalitarian economic control inefficiently using diesel and natural gas to produce ethanol for an at best breakeven on energy, and unquestioned extra effort in human resources.

EVs are fun. There are many ICE which consume more resources per mile, and some ICE which consume less than some EV. Like it or not that makes EV practical today. Gasoline is not optimal for all applications. Diesel is not optimal for all applications. EV is not optimal for all applications. But all can function in most all applications whether or not it is optimal.

I know people who commute in an F-250 or F-350 Powerstroke diesel. The truck is needed for other things, that is why they have it. Costs a lot more per mile for fuel than a Prius. But it costs less than the time value of money to own a Prius, plus depreciation, plus insurance, plus maintenance, plus fuel. The extra fuel cost to drive the F-250 is about equal to the insurance on the Prius never mind the other factors. The F-250 is not optimal but it gets the job done.

We had the same situation here in December, snowstorm and cars stuck for many hours, ICE lovers claim it was filled with empty EVs, I think it was one EV and the rest was ICE abandoned or empty.

Her we often use a system of convoys if the weather bad on the mountain roads, a plow truck and a safety car at the end, when I was doing this job it was no EVs but it would be the same procedure, check fuel level, low fuel you would be denied to follow the convoi, the same happened if you where badly prepared or for example had a new born baby or a car that where in bad shape.

We had the authority to deny any car if we felt it was a potential problem.

In a event of getting the convoi stuck in the snow a EV is much safer, you can't run a gas engine if your car is snowed down, exhauste might enter the car, and it have happend that all have to be rescued out of the cars and the cars have been abandoned for days in the mountains.

The Amish live in the past, still working with horses.
There is a lot of variance among the Amish. Some have tractors but have a prohibition against pneumatic tires. They fit steel tires or the new airless tire/wheel you sometimes see.

See a few driving cars, but always an older base model. Suspect it is Amish from a distance if the paint is dull and steel wheels are painted black. No hubcaps. No alloy wheels.

Most I have encountered will talk on a telephone but not answer or dial.

Amish construction crews will often use battery tools but not corded.

It is a fad, your opinion just as 70k SUVs and lifted pickups for driving to the grocery store have been. Yet the money some are throwing at it now will support new ideas and (hopefuly) affordable solutions. Hopefully all of that magically free and readily available electricity will spill over into our homes. Huh? Did someone here say electricity was free? Who said that so I can set them straight? LOL

I just believe that this is creating new and different problems for your descendants to deal with How is this any different than any other new and different things of the past? You aren't one of those old fogies who thinks things should never change are you?, just as we're seeing the results of prior generations excesses. Huh? what excesses were in the past that are not still going on?
