My wife & I (50 yr. together this year) much prefer stock. Two examples: both the BelAir & Nova her Mom bought new. Stock, except a few minor things that can be changed back.
Resto-mods we don't like. If an old car is in bad condition is different than ruining an old original. One could argue the "plug-n-play" EV is better, but knowing how to keep old cars running is much different. It's analogous to a mechanical 19th century pendulum clock and an atomic clock. The atomic clock accuracy is incredible, while antique requires winding, maintenance, bearings and parts wear out and break, etc. The problem is the migration away from KNOWING HOW the mechanical thing works, ability to keep it running, how to fabricate, etc.
The Amish live in the past, still working with horses. Steam powered excursion trains are still running thanks to knowledge handed down.
The bottom line is everything has It's purpose. Everything will be fine as long as people have choices. Never assume new is always better, I've always said today's new and improved is tomorrow's junk.
