A warning for those considering a Gear Drive Kubota L2501

You buy budget, you get budget. :confused3: Just like buying cars. I'm looking at the Ford Fusion. It will most likely be the last car I buy since I'm driving a 92 Taurus LX now with only 81k miles. The difference between the basic Fusion and the Titanium or Platinum is miles apart in amenities. They'll practically do your grocery shopping for you. But I'm dead set on Sync and Navigation. The other stuff is a bonus. :)
Get some good walking shoes. You're going to need them.

I looked at a L2501. Didn't take long to realize it was not much for the money.

Glad I went with the Mahindra 1626 shuttle. No regrets.

Is this your attempt to try and be funny to get a "dig" in at Ford? Or is there a different meaning behind your post?

I know many people that keep buying junk no matter how many times they've been left stranded or sank thousands in the pile.

There are so many differences in tractors it really takes a knowledgeable and experienced tractor operator to know what is necessary. My shuttle shift L2550DT has over 6100 hours. I have used it for a multitude of purposes on 75 acres. It has torn through brush and trees and mowed 40 acres of pasture.

I have found the 2550 two speed PTO to be a real asset over my IH584 with a single speed PTO. If I am simply knocking down weeds I run my PTO in high range and get the 540 RPM at say 1400 RPM engine speed. If I am cutting heavy stuff then low range it is at 2300 RPM or use the 584. Just watch the temp gauge. When I am going 3000' in a straight line and then coming 3000' back a gear tractor is just fine.

Yes, I wish I had Hydrostatic drive when baling hay. Keeping PTO speed constant while varying ground speed when going from heavy to light wind rows would be awesome as opposed to shifting.

What works for one may not work for another. Just meet your needs.

Brakes are on the wrong side with an HST L2501, too.

Do Ford Fusions have a lot of problems?

While there are many serious Ford problems owners don't know about, the Fusion has well-documented issues with engine stalls, fire, loss of acceleration, transmission shifting, noisy creaks, leaks, tricky lug nuts, steering failures, among others.

Did someone say they are going to purchase a ford fusion???
