Diesel fuel Anti-jell

I use Power Service all year, white or grey bottle depending on season. I also use Biocide. In the winter, I also use a Mr. Funnel to pour fuel through, it filters out any water.

I generally use Powerservice white combined with their biocide.

I test my fuel in the freezer just to see how anti-gel it is at about -4F. Two winters ago the off-road diesel was crystal clear at that temperature but not last winter. It looked like icky soap scum was mixed into it so it was starting to gel. Yes, later that winter it plugged my fuel filter, so I replaced it....and sucked fuel out of the tank and bought some on-road at a busy station. I just called the supplier about THIS year and they said it will be treated by about Dec 1st. Well, us tractor guys want good winter (January) fuel NOW so we don't have to screw around when it is really cold out. Grrrrr.

I do use Power service white bottle but it helps if the stations are ahead of the gel curve.

I use Power Service white and PRI-D. Have been to 27 below zero and never had a problem in y Massey 165 or my John Deere 450C.

Please pardon my ignorance, but what is "summer blend" fuel? Is this a colloquialism for #2 distillate fuel? Never heard of it here on the West coast.

I think summer diesel is just straight #2 diesel.

Ive lived in n idaho 25+ years. Ive never use any additive in my diesel fuel. Have 2 trucks and 2 tractors over the years. Up here they use winter blend fuels when it gets colder….maybe thats why ive never had any issues. I let my bulk 55 gal diesel tank run down before i stock up for winter snowplowing. Then it gets winter blend.

Winter blend has some level of kerosene in it.
Technically it's #1 diesel not kerosene. But really both are just a bit more refined than #2. Fewer BTUs & less lubrication per gallon when you refine the extra paraffin out of it. But it smells less when you burn it & doesn't gell.
