The hazards of deer are also in suburban areas. This ouch was posted by a neighbor:

"Deer danger.
My wife and I would like to thank everyone and update everyone who stopped to render aid to us last Monday after our golf cart was hit by a large buck deer as we drove down Pedernales just after dusk. We never saw the buck until we felt the violent impact from the side. It hit us so hard it nearly knocked the cart over and knocked my wife out onto the pavement. She suffered a broken leg, ankle, heel, head injuries and cuts and bruises all over but no brain damage. I found out later I had broken ribs. We’re on the mend now and again would like to thank all those who stopped . . ."

Day four of overcast drizzly skies. The wind has finally switched from NE to NW so I guess it’s going to clear out sometime. Low 70’s right now.
Put a new rear wiper on wife’s Edge, made ham salad this morning, I want to install the new carb on the EZGO this afternoon. I need to pull the MMM off the Massey and service the tractor as well.
We will see how it goes, have a good one.

The doubling glazing production lines finally caught up with our order, we had 11 window panes replaced yesterday. Strange to open the curtains this morning and see through an almost invisible hole in the wall instead of beads of condensation sandwiched between 2 pieces of glass.

No I haven't. My dad was called up to service in September 1939 and was sent to Palestine that winter. 4 years and 9 months later he returned home after being hit by shrapnell from a mortar. One of the things I most admired about him is that despite many Germans doing their utmost to kill him for such a long time, he never held any grudge against anyone who had fought against him.

My dad’s grandmother was German, and dad went to fight the Germans.

68°F and only 1.23 inches rain.

Slow but steady progress in caretaker ohana. Decided an extra moisture barrier was better than wasting the already bought Redgard

68F and partly/mostly cloudy @ 12:00, headed up to a high of 74F.

First bulb order was delivered this morning, and The Bulb Inspector approves:

Need to order some plant labels from Amazon.

Sounds like The Squeak is tormenting The Woman and the Big Orange Cat.

We have a new cat that is trying to adopt us:

It belonged to the next door neighbors who left it when they moved (a sad story there) She swears she isn't going to take him in, but she's already feeding him. He's an uncut male ...

Got all down around house mowed/leaves blown off again yesterday ... well except for a little area on the left as you come down the drive.

The Woman got the northwest planting bed weeded. We need to treat it with Preen so we can avoid that in the future.

Also got another two pallets of firewood made up and shrinkwrapped and moved down into the barn. Think that makes 7 total so far. Probably one more to go to completely clear the east side of the shop.

Also cut two 10' sticks of rebar in half, into stakes to use for trees/plants. I cut up a 10' x 3' roll of 1/2" hardware cloth into three sections the other night to make cages to protect various plants. Got one of them completely finished, and another at least 50% done as far as joining the ends together to form a cylinder. Going to deploy one of those today around one of the new peach trees.

Hope to get a couple of redbuds planted today, and possibly the rest of the Roses of Sharon.

Probably have some more tomatoes that are ripe enough to be picked.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

well my Hawaiian chicken moku bowl was good, but a little bland for me. Next time I'll try something
more adventurous. Had lunch with an eight grader (our school's seniors) and it was a delight.
First he had a McLaren hat on and I asked him if his Dad owned one. He promptly replied "I wish!"
Then he asked me about my hobbies and when I mentioned I had been a local fireman many years ago,
he promptly came back with "thank you for your service". My jaw dropped...didn't know kids could be that mature
at that age. It was a quiet and fun break from the prior hour of being way too close to a whole yard full of kids at recess.
All that screeching, but it was all good. Just hard on my tinnitus. So four hours of school board duty now done, I'm going to take a nap
this afternoon.

Gas station that took my audi to Manheim auction left a message my money was ready. The only positive thing about waiting from March to now and accomplishing nothing
ordering that truck was that my car sold for 5500 dollars more in October than it would have brought in March.
So I got a good price on the trade, which is sure helpful since the body shop emailed me a quote for $1399 to repair the rear fender lip rust.
Quote showed 200 dollars for a new panel, and 8 hours of labor to put it on, plus painting, etc etc.
On a truck with this mileage and age, I wanted a bondo and paint job, not a new panel.
So off to another body shop tomorrow morning to get another quote.
Clearly doing rust repairs is one of their least favorite jobs.
I think 7-800 bucks is my limit or I'll settle for doing it myself.
Area is mostly hidden anyway.
Plus we found where the front right fender had already been repaired, same rust problem I'm sure.
Someone did a beautiful job on it though, just a tiny ripple in one spot.
Interesting that rust was on both right wheel wells, left was fine.
More water and salt on the right side?

The rest of this truck is in very good condition; I think an older guy driving around with his big white dog in the truck.
Truck had been maintained at dealership, they had his record, replaced rear brakes, and nothing else major.
But I clearly bought a rotter. Just have to stay ahead of it. Thankfully I did not overspend on this truck.

Next year I hope to get an EV for use around town. Should be some good deals on a Bolt. It is going to cost
LG 1.9 billion dollars to replace those bad batteries. And meanwhile you can't charge your car in your garage or more
than 90 percent. Tesla is smiling all the way to the bank.

Late breakfast at 10 after Dr appointment, so skipped lunch. Even something bland would be good now. Stomach says that doesn’t count as lunch.

There’s still some good kids out there.
