Welcome.
I wonder what percentage of American garages are stuffed full of everything but cars. I know a bunch of folks where both their cars are outside and the garage is used mostly for storage.

The underneath of this 8 year old truck I'm buying is solid brown rust.
Pretty sure it lived its life in NJ where heavy road salt and for sure the ocean salt is really hard on all vehicles.
Next time it's up on a lift, what would you recommend spraying over all that rust?
I was thinking of getting a couple cans of Boeshield. Or should it be a rust converter?
Surface rusting isn't anything to worry about...only when it starts pitting and peeling. And any 8 year old vehicle will probably have some surface rust on the undercarriage.
In the NE, folks have oil sprayed on the underside. Downside, it'll be dripping for a few days. Also, Fluid Film has been used, but there have been complaints that doesn't last through the winter months.

I have a 2 car garage with a Gator and Deere ZTR in it as well as a collection of tools and miscellaneous "stuff". Come winter, wehave to rearrange stuff so my stepdaughter can park her car (Subaru Crosstrak) in there.

Never had a garage until this house. It was one of the MUST haves on Sophies build list - pool, fireplace, garage. Only 24x24 and seems have shrunk some. Guess I should fix that as part of next project.

I've honestly never owned something so rusty....
Couple of bolts in engine compt were rusted too, so need to go over entire truck.

Lot of rubber bushings underneath and wonder what effect all that salt has had.
Up here once the rust has started all you can do is slow it down,
Fluid Film is one of the more popular do it yourself solutions,
Krown is a popular system to have applied it is a heavy oil type solution.

Yesterday I managed to catch the fleshy part of my right index finger between head of a 3lb hammer and block of 2x4. Took a few seconds before it was dripping blood and fortunately there was a roll of paper towels nearby, stop gap until I got a big bandaid. OK, not the first time and of course I chastised myself. Today it just hurts like #$&$%#, serving as a reminder to be more attentive. Seems like anything I hold manages to land there.

They are setting up for the garage sale. looks like it's going to be a big one with over a hundred households. Absolutely no early sales. The rope gets lowered at 8AM and the mad dash is on.

nice panorama pic Don. Hope it doesn't rain tonight.

I appreciate the advice, doing something about the rust is better than doing nothing, but I'll know more when it goes up on a lift next week.
Fluid Film was what I used on the farm Lou on steel implements like plows and discs that were under roof but "out there".
It does glom up the surface but that I'm sure is what makes it work.
I never did much with my 2015 truck and it was rusty in a few spots but nothing like this one year older truck. This is just a sea of brown.
Like it had sat at the shore...though I now know the sellers name and approximate location and the selling dealer in Flemington NJ.
I plan on taking a drive up there next week, not too far up a nice four lane, and asking about what their records show has been done.
If they flushed the coolant or changed the trans oil, sure would save me some money.

end of a busy day
time for a small bowl of ice cream
haven't had one in ages, and now that my blood is drawn for labs at 6:30 this morning, going to treat myself
to a little frozen sugar and fat. Last time was sugar free Bryers and it really isn't very good...

Ouch! hope that craft brew wasn't at fault....

Don, I'm planning on coming to the big garage sale. Daughter wants to come too (if she can get up early enough). Is there parking in the adjacent lots?

Since I call my hail damaged 2015 malibu, either Crumpled Steelskin, or Bonnie and Clydes' last ride, I'm not too worried about hail damage on it. (It's already been totally hail damaged, and not repaired.) That's how I got it so cheep.

While it's quite humbling to be seen in it, I tell people, "It looks like hail on the outside, but inside it's like heaven."

Just something to do my 135 mile daily work commute in....

Flat track races rained out today, scheduled for tomorrow late afternoon. I hope it dries up enough in Charlotte NC.

Good evening all. 65F for the start, clear sky, light breeze. Moderate wind with some brisk gusts, Sky was partly cloudy, and high temp was 91F, DP 58F. Cleaning lady prep to start day, bike ride. Nap after lunch but unable to motivate to run chainsaw. No new gopher signs wonder if match smoke plus unloading logs drove it off. 7:30 ride start in AM
Covid update: Cooke 4058 confirmed cases, 28 active cases, Montague 2525 confirmed cases, 39 active cases, Grayson, 15,768 confirmed cases, 233 active cases. Cooke 6, Montague 1, Grayson 42, new cases. Grayson number still don't add up
