Left turn on 2 lane. Stay in R/H lane or L/H to let cars continue on?

If I’m towing something like a hay wagon or something that doesn’t have turn signals that I can’t see who is following, I’ll do “A” and merge left, slowly taking away the passing lane. This makes it less likely a car or motorcycle decides to pass me when I’m turning left.
Normally with a regular vehicle…. it depends.
If someone has been tailgating, I’ll do “B” and take my sweet time, to be a jerk right back at ‘em.
If there’s no traffic ahead, I’ll occasionally do “A”, just so everyone keeps moving. Especially if it’s a big truck or something that doesn’t look like it can stop on a dime. I don’t trust people to not be looking down on their phones during that second I hit my brakes to turn left.
Ideally, people shouldn’t be tailgating and I should use my turn signal far enough in advance that the car behind me doesn’t have to slow down much when I slow down to make my left turn; they only close the gap.

Who here remembers left and right turn hand & arm signals? Do they even teach that to young drivers anymore? In my old Willys jeep that’s the only option. Only one tail/brake light from the factory to boot.

“Right turn Clyde”

I find that people that complain about tailgaters, tend to poke along UNDER the speed limit and actually believe they OWN the road.

Well, I mean, sure, you shouldn't go driving through someone's front yard to get around someone. But if there's paved space to get around someone turning left, I say use it. Like I said, a ton of our local intersections (especially the "T" intersections) have additional pavement added specifically for this purpose, so it must not be illegal.
If it's a marked passing lane, use it. If it's a single lane, don't pass someone that's turning.

When someone tailgates me on our road - which I usually travel at around the speed limit (it's actually not a crime to travel under the speed limit on a country road) - I do slow down sometimes, especially in the evening. I brake for deer, and a tailgater is welcome to eat my trailer hitch if they want but

I’ve seen that, not good.

In MD they have the right shoulder marker in areas to allow you to pass left turning vehicles. The problem is some people don’t use them, they slow behind the turning vehicle, you go to pass on the right in a marked lane, the car turns, the next car goes straight as you are legally passing on the right.
That seems simple enough to me. . It's one thing to go around the turning vehicle but whether the car in front of you is doing 20 or 80, don't pass on the right.

Here is our statute on that:

6. Passing on the right. An operator may pass a vehicle on the right only under the following conditions:
A. When the vehicle to be passed is making or about to make a left turn; [PL 1993, c. 683, Pt. A, §2 (NEW); PL 1993, c. 683, Pt. B, §5 (AFF).]
B. On a way with unobstructed pavement not occupied by parked vehicles and of sufficient width for 2 or more lines of traffic in each direction; or [PL 1993, c. 683, Pt. A, §2 (NEW); PL 1993, c. 683, Pt. B, §5 (AFF).]
C. On a way on which traffic is restricted to one direction, when the roadway is free from obstructions and of sufficient width for 2 or more lines of traffic.

That seems pretty clear to me.

Perhaps, in NY “poke along” means anything less than 10mph above the speed limit.
At speed limit would be pretty much be considered “stopped in the road”.

Why can't we all just get along? If I am out for a casual drive, I just pull over so the other guy can go faster. Why so so many have such a strong desire to try to control the behavior of others...especially when it can be dangerous?

Nope, not in my case. I always drive about 5 MPH over the posted speed. If someone is tailgating me they are definitely deserving of complaints, and whatever else they get in the process.

Only partially correct. I complain about some tail-gaters and do sometimes poke along. The speed limit is a "max limit" -- means you are allowed to go slower, not faster.

So.... nothing wrong with a slow-poke. Furthermore, i don't believe i own the road, but do rightly believe that i am allowed to go slower than the limit.

And i don't mind someone close if they are waiting for an opportunity to pass. I even slow down as they start to pass to help out. What i hate is the tail-gater who does not pass when there is an opportunity. That is when i begin slowing down to give them the message to pass.
