Left turn on 2 lane. Stay in R/H lane or L/H to let cars continue on?

Next scenario. If you’re going down a rural two lane road and meet an oncoming tractor with a 24’ implement, a combine or cotton picker, what do you do?
I pull over if I can (driveway, wide spot, etc) and wait for him to go by unless he does it first.

Maybe it’s a local thing. As said I use “A” when I know it’s safe. I see it more of a courtesy issue and it’s pretty common around here.

Wave. In rural settings I always wave. If the tractor is oncoming, he has his own lane. If his rig is too wide for the lane, I do like @Midniteoyl and pull to the side.

Huh? How is his turn blocked? He is already in the the left lane so that he can turn. The guy passing will have to stop it since he'd be in the wrong anyway passing a guy about to turn left.

I think many here are missing the key point that we who do this only do it when the coast is all clear. How much more precisely can i say it? All clear means all clear. We don't pull into the left lane only to discover the turn is blocked because we already know there is no way anything can block it.
Things happen. I don't know your exact scenario but I did give a real life situayion about 1/2 way down page one. The real irony is that same coworker has also told me that I should pull over and let traffic by 1/3 mile down the road, when I am making a right hand turn onto the same blind road.
The guy passing will have to stop it since he'd be in the wrong anyway passing a guy about to turn left.
How is he in the wrong? He sees traffic slowing, then sees you pull out into the left lane with your blinker on. You just pulled out to pass. It must be safe to do so. (Or am I the only one who uses his blinker when passing a car?)

Oh wait, no. You're stopped in the middle of the road waiting for a car to get out of the way.

WA left turn law:

Required position and method of turning at intersections.

(2) Left turns. The driver of a vehicle intending to turn left shall approach the turn in the extreme left-hand lane lawfully available to traffic moving in the direction of travel of the vehicle.

I only break the law when the coast is clear? 🤣

Just teasing you. Seriously, what you're doing is polite and for the right reasons and all, however, it is a move that is not expected by other traffic, and it's probably illegal to approach an intersection going the wrong direction in a lane.

I wave as there's only 1 guy around here that has that kind of equipment and we know him. 😁

Pretty much have to stop and see what he's gonna do. Make eye contact. Pull as far to the right as a I can. Pull in a drive if there's no place for him to pull over. Most times around here they'll pull over and wave you past if they can. If not, heck, I'll do a 3 point turn and go back until I can find a drive or road to pull into so they can pass. They're going somewhere and so am I. Easier, faster, and safer to cooperate on the road.

I have done A, especially if I’m not sure the car behind is paying attention. B is the legal requirement.

Stop in your lane until ALL traffic in ALL directions is also stopped.
Then and ONLY then is it safe to make your turn.... unless an airplane falls out of the sky in front of you.
Being courteous is for suckers, make them STOP.

here's a good one. i've only seen this done in the mountains of E Tennessee and surrounding areas.

you are third in line on a country hwy/road. 55 mph

the first person signals to make a left turn and begins to slow down.

the SECOND person signals to make a left turn and of course now all three are slowing down, no problem.

i see the 2 folks in front of me turning left into a rural drive way.....they must be following each other?

i gently pull around the right to carefully pass them and......

the first car pulls into the driveway and the second car accelerates straight ahead and now i'm on the shoulder or whatever wondering WTF.

My E Tennessee buddy said that's common, the second person was just telling me the first person was turning left.
