59° right now...high in the mid-80's...maybe a little rain

Got my 1st covid shot yesterday afternoon and my right arm (upper bicep) and shoulder are a bit achy. That may limit some of my outside work...not sure if I'll be able to wrestle with a pole saw...
First chore in a couple hours will be a dump run. The lawn could use a trim...really borderline there, but I'll get 5 gallons of fuel while out for the dump run anyway.

If the rain does come, and limit any outdoor activities, I'll probably watch a fine old (mid-1950's) western....3:10 to Yuma (has a great Frankie Laine theme song)

65° at 7:15

Ran out of mobile data, 2 more days to reset, so won’t be on unless at home.

Need to grab something to eat before we go out to eat, lol

My ambient weather app logged me out of my station, maybe an app upgrade?
One thing I like about iPhone is the password tool.

Looks like a hot week coming up. Been a tab dry, grass starting to look like summer grass.

Good morning, expected high of 18C/64F and very wet - just another typical summer's day in England.

He said if he died while riding a bike, it would most likely be due to a deer strike, as there's really no way to mitigate the danger with them. Several years later, on a cross country trip, he had trouble finding a motel room and chose to continue across Texas after dark. A deer jumped in front of him and he lost his life, fulfilling his prophesy.
That is sad. Do you avoid riding your bikes near to and after sunset ?

I guess deer are even more of a problem than in the UK.
Each year we have 40,000 - 70,000 collisions with deer, over 400 of which result in injury to the vehicle occupants and a handful of people die.
Humane despatch of injured deer is usually carried by calling in a deer hunter (most police do not carry firearms). Some deer are euthanised by vets, but that means someone has to stay with the carcase until it is recovered because a rising number of people now like to dine on roadkill, even though they have no idea under what circumstances the animal died !

Good morning.
It’s 69 and going to upper 80’s with partly cloudy skies and no rain.

Yesterday was a busy day, started off trimming back a couple of beds, in preparation for the seal coating. On my way to the brush pile, I ran into this fawn getting a drink at the pond.

Got everything ready before they got here to get started, they did a nice job,

After they were finished I was able to get into the shop and get some work done by going in the farthest overhead door without walking on the fresh seal coat. I got some tools out the same way and went off to the restaurant to fix an ice cream display case.

I was able to get out of tomorrow’s trip, still not sure about today, I’ll probably end up on a short leash, and not have to fly, but will likely miss the pool party either way. I hate it when work gets in the way of play. But it happens so rarely that I shouldn’t complain.

Took wife for crab cakes for supper. Menu said market price, I ordered 2, wife ordered 2. Cost was $82 for the 4 crab cakes (and 2 sides each). They were good, but not $82 good.

A box of frozen hamburgers at Costco were around $25 last night, but that was 36 patties I think.

New plans for tomorrow, invited to watch a friends kid baseball game at 11 in south PA, right next to a diner we eat breakfast at sometimes, so it’s breakfast, ball game, then pick up pit beef for lunch on way home. Garage and oil change will wait.

My new computer shipped. They said September but scheduled to come Sunday.
Have you tried the crab cakes from Phillips Crab House at Costco? They are frozen, but very crabby and good...$24 for 6 in a box. You've probably eaten at Phillips in Baltimore or Ocean City? They used to have a restaurant in Norfolk at Waterside...so good.

68 and raining, finally. Only looking for a high of 75.

RNG, sorry to hear the story of your MC instructor. Sounds like a well planned and managed class you took.

Roy, glad you got a shot, and arm soreness is only issue. The movie 3:10 to Yuma sounds good...I recorded it (the original) a while back on DVR and still haven't watched it...since it is rainy, I may join you.

Mostly, okra is just starting to produce...so far pretty good.

Pop, looks like a nice job on the seal job.

I got some pole sawing done yesterday before roasting coffee, and then watching bees. A beekeeper is supposed to come out this afternoon and look things over. I found they are using a second hole in the trunk as the main one, so worried how it will work out.

72F and sunny @ 09:00, headed up to a high of 87F with scattered thunderstorms possible later this afternoon.

Very long day yesterday, in recovery mode this morning.

Refilled hopper and one sunflower tube feeder. Also one suet cake feeder.

Watered day lilies on west side of the house so they can be dug out more easily. Probably hit those again this morning.

Only got about 1/3 of the back gutter on the pole barn cleaned out ... but we did get about 3/4 of the rear area there cleaned up as far as leaves and dead weeds and grass. Probably took a dozen bucketloads of debris up to the compost pile.

Gutter itself wasn't too bad ... the debris in it was pretty dry. Getting in there to clean it out is a challenge due to the amount of overhang of the sheet metal (at least an inch) Glad I decided to go with the 6" gutters rather than 5" ... otherwise my hands would have been a bloody mess ...

We stopped on the gutter clean out at the point we got to the pile of dirt which had been removed from the surface drains, which needed to be moved. I drug that over the south side of the barn to get it out of the way. By that time the sun was high enough in the sky I was no longer in shade while up on the ladder.

Before she got over there to assist, I managed to trim back all the overhanging branches along the trail on the east property line so that the Kubota could be driven along it without getting slapped in the face. Also hit it with the box blade to collect the debris and smooth it out a little.

We had a little lunch after knocking off on the gutters and I opted for a short nap after that. The Woman took the Cub and got the upper front mowed.

After I got back up I went up and mowed the compost/woodlot. That leaves only the lawn down here around the house, which I'll probably do later (if it's not raining) after the dew burns off.

Filled the larger spray tank up and dumped another 65 gallons of water down the groundhog entry holes on the east side of the house last evening after I got done mowing.

We also got the garden watered. With the higher temps and no mulch on it, it seems to dry out fairly quickly. Picked a couple more zucchini and a yellow squash. The Woman is worried about the one tomato plant - which is approaching 6' tall - falling over. It's in a cage so I don't think it's going to be a problem but she was asking if maybe we could extend the cage higher.

First item on agenda today (after coffee) is to get back over on the gutters.

Also need to get the fish downstairs fed as it's been a couple of days.

Take the dump cart up to the shop with the Cub with all the stuff that needs to go up there and get it unloaded.

Run the recycle bin (which is full) up to the can at the road and empty it.

Maybe refill hopper feeder and water plants (iris, hemlock, oak trees) out back.

Probably some more groundhog remediation.

Get lawn down here around house mowed.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Saturday ... (y)
