Back home again.

Since I don’t have a fence in the way anymore, parked the camper the reverse direction. This way electric is close to the shed, I can roll awning out all the way to dry it.
Been pricing new AC unit, around $900. Looks like fairly easy swap out. Still want to take cover off again and recheck this one. It does put out cold air, just loud.

Was really humid when we got home, .1” of rain. Now sun is out, and not as humid.

I don’t think our rules have changed lately. Mask required inside. I wear mine to protect ME. If an unvaxxed doesn’t care about himself why should I. But I surely feel badly for those who legitately don’t have a choice.

Ditto on the unvaxxed by choice. Mask wearing here is now optional pretty much everywhere. But unless you're wearing a real N95 mask, not one of those Chinese imitation XX95 ones, you're not getting much protection from your mask. Social distancing, and just staying way from people, is far more effective.

Yes, the vaccine isn't for everyone. For example, there's the problem with heart swelling in young people. Were I in their shoes, I'm not sure I'd choose to be vaccinated. Then there's the very young, for whom the vaccine hasn't been approved for emergency use. But then the fatality rate among the very young is very, very low. Those that can't take the vaccine still have the same options we all did before the vaccine was available. And being younger, some of the responsibility falls on their parents to keep the kids away from possible infection environments.

I don't have any friends or acquaintances that got CV19. I don't have a huge circle of friends, so maybe that has something to do with it. I also think I tend to hang around with people that are good at managing risk (most of them also ride motorcycles). We all used real N95 masks, we social distanced, and we stayed home or worked in ways that still isolated us. Even though I haven't been wearing a mask, I still minimize my exposure by social distancing and generally staying away from people. No dine in restaurants, no bars, no concerts. The only events I'll go to are outdoors with lots of room to spread out. Oh, and I still use hand sanitizer every time I get back into the truck while I'm running errands in town. It's been working for CV19, and apparently it's been working for other virus strains as well. No colds for the past year, knock on wood.

I just checked, and there has been a slight uptick in the number of cases in this county. Just as before, the vast majority of new cases are in the 18-24 year old age group. The case rate is enough to get us into the highest category on that CDC map. But nowhere even close to what it was last year, and certainly no where near to anything big enough to overwhelm hospital capacity.

Chico is a big college town, and they're planning more and more in person classes this Fall. The colleges are also requiring proof of vaccination, just as they already do for things like small pox and measles. I still expect to see a jump in the case rate when the kids come back from summer break, but again nothing big enough to even come close to overwhelming capacity.

After procrastinating for a while...finally decided to purchase pallet forks...
My loader is self-leveling...pretty nice feature. Set the bucket down, with the bottom flat, as the loader raises, the bucket stays in the same (flat) position relative to the ground.
That will be a big advantage when using forks...
I use my loader much more for lifting then any real "loader" work.

Roy, I really like that price! Hope it works out great for you. Let us know. I'm looking at the 2" receiver tube, and it looks like it could use some shoring up, if you ever had to lift a really heavy hitch load. For example, when I go get mushroom compost on my 16' trailer, and I need to dump it like a dump trailer. I would use the hitch and FEL to lift the trailer's front end high into the air to let the compost slide down, then pull the trailer so that all the compost would offload.

nice dinner at my brothers, sent home with huge basket of tomatoes from one relative as I'm taking tomatoes over to another.

I guess I'd better start chopping some up tomorrow to put away. Can't do much without a second freezer.

Wng, the 'Vax-to-the-max" sweepstakes took the state to over 70% vaccination rate, up from around 50%. Our cases have also creeped upwards, but hospitalization and death numbers are very low. Only about 20-25% of people are still wearing masks.

RNG, yes, it is supposed to be the monsoon season here now. We have gotten some rain, but it is far less than a normal monsoon. The 'exceptional drought' areas have gotten smaller, but still in 'severe drought'. There have been reports that it will take YEARS to get back to normal.
Are those pics of Lake Oroville correct? That is BAD!

Mostly, ask and you shall receive..... here are a few pics from the last 2 months worth of work...
1st one is of the new privacy fence and courtyard that it created. All of the pines and shrubs were grown by the wifey from about 6" tall saplings/cuttings.
The second is a new bed in the center of the courtyard. Again, all the plantings were grown by us in containers over the last few years.
The last is a bed at the end of the driveway. Some new plants (tree cuttings) and some older that will stay in the containers for another year.
We haven't decided if we are going to just use mulch in the courtyard area, native grasses (which don't look all that pretty), or an actual sod lawn. The sod would be the most expensive to install, maintain, and water hungry of course. We are probably going to mulch for now.

The next step will be the landscape fabric in the fence bed, run 3 zones of drip irrigation, and mulch. A couple more days of work.... yeah right... maybe a couple of weeks!

And, last but not least, all the holes in the cinder blocks are going to be filled with Asiatic Lily bulbs this fall. There is talk from the wifey about doing a mix of tulips, daffodils, and the lilies.

Not as much as Rswyan does in a day, but I'm trying to give him a run for the money!

Your place looks great, landscaping without a lawn, sure is different. But still lots of ways
to have color. Maybe paint those silver planters light blue, yellow, fun colors.

BEF, look into a Furrion brand a/c for the camper. They have the highest volume of air movement, the coldest cooling, and are the quietest on the market. My son just did a lot of research and comparisons between all the major brands. I am not sure of the price.
