...and pallets, too!

"Two semis were involved in a crash on I-5 on Monday morning in the backup from an earlier crash on the Lewis River Bridge. One person was injured in the crash involving the semis. (Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue)"

I see it all the time, bad driver in a big truck thinks they can bully everyone and anyone into hitting the brakes for them.
I avoided climbing the guardrail like that lady just last week, by braking hard.

3 lanes in each direction. It never occurred to me the 53 ft semi would challenge me for the fast lane - no turn signal - when I was considerably faster and already next to his rear axle. I hadn't changed lanes, he must have seen me coming up on him.

I worried about getting rear-ended, braking with no time to look in my mirror. Luckily there was no one there.

Even worse - long ago approaching a hairpin switchback on a steep uphill logging road. I gave way to my right as a long logging truck came roaring down the switchback but I had to climb the bank to avoid his trailer going over me as it bounced across the point of the switchback. I had three of four wheels up on the steep bank getting out of his way as he took the entire road and more.

Logging trucks are famous for assuming everybody will get out of their way in time, they don't care.

You should watch some of those seeking a CDL as they drive thier car to the school site. It’s easy to tell which ones should never be in a truck.
Followed one in the other day that was on his cell texting for at least a ten mile stretch before the exit. Couldn’t keep his car in his own lane and thought I was mean for making everyone leave thier cell phones in thier cars.
Let me just say even without his cell phone as a distraction, he couldn’t understand how to stay center of his own lane even driving bobtail!
I was scared of these idiots before starting this retirement gig but the more of these morons I see the more scared I become!

Failed one last week who was just getting an onboarding with a company we contract with. He drove for 7 years and couldn’t impress me and hide his bad habits for a 119 mile run from one facility to the other.
Then complained that I won’t pass him.
He pulled out On a yield sign in front of an oncoming car close enough to force them into the opposing trafffic lane.
He missed his turn signal several times
He was only able to give me the height of one overpass out of 8
Could not state how to figure legal following distance
Could not keep the trailer on the roadway and seemed unwilling to slow down on the tighter country roads
Could not anticipate or downgear in a timely manner as he climed hills
Was unable to keep the truck off the soft dirt when executing an emergency stop, along without knowing proper distance for his reflective triangles
Ground more gears in one outing than most new drivers will in a years time
Could not seem to downgear and slow with the truck in gear ( coasted to a stop in neutral no matter the speed he started slowing from)
Seemed he had no clue how far over the white line his trailer was 90% of the time even on the highway.
There was a few other things but to keep it short I’ll stop here!

Needless to say I made the return trip as my nerves couldn’t take much more!

I have no doubt the chains are what is holding the weight, if the chains break or was not there the truck would be on the ground.

This morning, car behind me passes me on an on ramp. 2 lanes go to one. It then tried to pass semi in front of me, after the 2 lanes became 1. Semi honks, sped up, with car trying to pass (now on shoulder) having to back off and get behind semi. Once on highway semi gets in left lane to pass truck in right. . The car that tried to pass the semi on the ramp floors it, cuts into left lane immediately in front of semi, then brake checked the semi. I was expecting a collision but was disappointed.

The past few months I've seen what I consider to be very aggressive semi truck drivers failing to yield, cutting people off, excessive speed, tailgating, hogging the passing lane, etc. I stay as far away from semis as I can.
