I dislike it. I prefer levers and buttons because you don't have to take your eyes off the road to reach for them. A touch screen requires hand-eye coordination, which means distractions from looking at the road.

Don't worry, you can program its alarm clock to wake you up when it gets you to your destination. Plus it is better to go in your sleep if it gets you in an accident

EV or ICE, fewer available options would save money on vehicle cost. Even if you opt out of many of the available options, the design cost (including all of the allowances for those options) must add a lot to the base cost of the vehicles.

On a serious note, I think I would stay awake due to the cramp in my leg from hoovering my foot over the brake pedal the whole time.

I assume they never do away with driver override.

I never said they know how to make an EV that lasts 15 years, what I said was that they knew how to make vehicles that last that long or longer.


That is exactly what I was referring to.
I'm not even convinced that Tesla has the best features. They certainly don't seem to "get" ergonomics. Having every single operator function besides steering dependent on menus on a touchscreen doesn't make it in my book. Have their design engineers actually ever driven on a real road?

I totally agree with the UI design in these vehicles....my F250 is still mostly dials (the climate controls, etc). I can't stand menus for this stuff. Give me dials and buttons!

Our 2020 Subaru Forester monitors your eyes. If is seen you close them it beeps at you..so they may have tech to keep you awake at the wheel. Maybe a small 12V electrical impulse via a caliper you hook to an ear lobe?

Never heard of it. Big difference between what would be street legal in China vs the U.S. There are lots of cheapie "3rd world" cars out there, but they don't meet North American safety standards. There's also the fact that sub-sub-compact cars don't sell very well here.
