Good Morning!!!! 85F @ 6:30AM. Abundant sunshine. Near record high temperatures. High 112F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
WU sez it got to 110F yesterday afternoon, and it felt like every bit of it out on the back porch. Even the lizards were hiding. I see them slip up under the outside walls, but the water coming out of the outside shower head was scalding even on the cold setting. The pipes run through the attic, then down the wall, and took a while to cool down, but never did get to cold because even the water in the holding tank is warm now.
Sounds like a nice day in the mountains, Billy. The Airheads will be up camping in the Sierra east of here over the weekend, and I plan to join them for some cooling off.
Yesterday when I came into the kitchen from the garage for lunch, a flash of motion caught my eye. I stopped and under the table saw was a baby bunny. Poor thing was just looking for some shade. But the last thing I need is a rabbit chewing on stuff in the garage, so I got a broom and gently encouraged it to leave. It's a hot, cruel world out there.
Began the day with an impact hammer in my hands, followed by a shovel. Got about half an FEL bucket full of rock and a little dirt. Came in for a water break and it was already 95F, but went back at it for another hour or so before stopping for lunch. By then it was over 100F and I didn't make it back out there. Still have a little bit more to go this morning. The impact hammer is working well on the soft shale, but I ran into a pretty good size rock on one side that runs under the foundation of the pump house. That had to come out in pieces, and it was pretty slow going. So was the concrete that slopped out of the foundation forms at the bottom, hidden by an inch of dirt. More dragon eggs.
Got an order placed with McMaster-Carr for PVC fittings that don't seem to be available locally, and also the wire for the water level sensor in the upper tank. Then emailed them with an addition after thinking about it some more. Got a response back in fifteen minutes acknowledging the change. Not bad for a big company on a Saturday, eh?
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!
