I don't know about that, Lou. I was taught to never use a torque wrench to break loose a fastener. The jolt when it lets go is hard on the mechanism. Maybe it doesn't matter with a digital wrench, but I wouldn't do it with a clicker or a beam.I've had a set of torque sticks for many years,
about once a year I'll mount a bolt in my vise and run a nut on with my impact and the various torque sticks
then verify what it takes to break them loose with my nice torque wrench.
A long time ago, I had a Snap-On salesman refuse to sell me a set of torque stix after I told him I'd be using them with an impact gun. He never did explain why. Maybe it was because he'd rather sell me one of the $$$$$$$ digital torque wrenches? He gave up his franchise a few months later, people don't seem to stay in that job more than a year or so. I still don't have a set of torque stix, but I do have a range of digital torque wrenches...
