Looking back on things, I never remember learning about the Korean war in school. From what I heard it was a short conflict after WWII. Only until I met my wife's uncle, who was a Korean war vet, did I start to find interest in it through his few stories in his later life. I've read up on it a lot since then. Brutal.
I had uncles that served during WW2 (along with one killed in Belgium) and Korea, and my father and a couple of cousins in SE Asia.

Korea is IMO the REAL forgotton war for the US per the "latest wars". War only lasted 3 years with over 600k KIA from both sides.

That said, how many Americans know what the Spanish-American war or the Mexian-American war was about?

At the end of the day, doesn't matter the conflict IMO, when people are trying to kill you in combat, no matter what war you call it, it's something we should all strive to advoid.

I see nothing in the story that says the kids knew they were firing at him or had any intent to shot him. Maybe they did (which would be unusual and deprived) or maybe they didn’t.
“Aim” is a tricky word. If you shot a gun, and through ignorance or negligence, hit an unintended target, did you “aim” at that target? Yes and no. Let’s not get carried away without more facts.

My father got drafted into the Army in his 2nd year of college for WWII. Got put into a combat engineering battalion. Spent a year in the states training, then went to Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines until the war ended. Spent a little more time in the Philippines, then came home and finished college on the G.I. Bill. Stayed in the reserves for several more years and spent considerable time "doing things" for the Army. We could never find out what "doing things" was. He wouldn't talk. I have a request in for his service records, but due to COVID it's been delayed for over a year. He had quite a bit of knowledge about explosives, and worked on many power plant and munitions factory designs, so I suspect it was something to do with that kind of thing.

I bet the boys say, on their own or coached by parents, they were shooting at tires and accidentally hit the man.
Nobody takes responsibility any more.

Do you mean the tires on the tractor?
Ok, I’ll take that bet. Let’s say $100.

You’re going to take responsibility and stand by your words right?

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you. There is very little hate for "yankees" in the South. There is a huge amount of hate for "rebels" throughout America as anyone can see as Southern statues are torn down by the hundreds, schools, streets and places named after southerners are renamed and southern cemeteries are vandalized. People are taught to be ashamed of being White and that there are no White heroes including all of our presidents.

I apologize if my remarks are not pc but I had to be truthful on this subject.
True. My ancestors both sides arrived about the same time, mid 1800s, one poor from the UK but settled in Pa., worked hard eventually opened a general store. Two daughters, one son (my grandfather) all successful, grandad worked his way through 18 yrs college (Mech Eng, M.D., D.O.) no handouts, paid for by he and grandmother working and they had two kids to raise, part of it during Great Depression.
Other great-grandfather arrived at 12yo as indentured servant from Scotland, again poor but studied foundry trade becoming highly successful starting a large foundry.
Slaves were traded within their own countries for thousands of years. None of my ancestors owned slaves.
Wife & I growing up in Virginia in 1950s lots of "dam yankee" attitude up until about 50 years ago.
History is history and should be taught accurately and embraced, not destroyed.
The bottom line is the past is over, no excuse for kids not able to do well in our greatest country. Learn from the past, work hard, appreciate all the sacrifices women and men made so you CAN prosper.

I consider myself blessed.

Never new what "Project 404" was some years agowhen I came across some things his buddies put together when he left that he had hanging in the attic.

Because my dad could speak Lithuanian, I guess started out in communications in the air force. His older brothers fought in Germany during WW2, and they convinced him (basically threatened to beat him) to stay out of the Army when he enlisted in the early 50's.

2 girls - 14 and 15 - admitted to killing an Uber Eats driver in Washington DC. as part of an attempted car hacking.

The girls received juvenile detention.

The news reported this was the 18th car hacking in Washington DC this year committed by juveniles. They admitted the 18 number was only the ones solved.

Some people think they are just kids. What do you do with an 8 or 9 year old who was raised like an animal? They don’t have that chip most of us have about right and wrong. Lots of guys in state prison were introduced to the system when very young. That system no matter how you feel about it is broken.
