The Starbucks in my supermarket was closed the other day, nobody would come to work. I was in Ingles this morning and they’re having a job fair. I’ll ask the manager how it went, I’m thinking it will be a snooze fest.

So, I guess Starbucks closes the shop or pays higher wages.

Or, puts in a self serve machine!

Northern Nevada, where I live, is home to several huge mines that pay very, very well. Excellent benefits - I worked as a miner all my life and now have a comfortable retirement due to the bennies. Still know a lot of people working at the mines and they are also having major staffing problems and having to hold job fairs. Sounds like very few people are applying - and all too many of those that do apply cannot pass a drug test.

So it isn't just the higher wages. Too many people these days just don't want to work. Too many just don't have the discipline to make themselves get up every day and go to a job. 30 years old and Mom and Dad are still taking care of them.

I saw a meme the other day that said..

I just saw an interview with a local landscaper on our local news last night. He had a lot of jobs they couldn't start last year due to pandemic. So he has a lot of jobs to finish from that now. Plus he has a lot of jobs booked and is full through the year. He said he's turning away business because he can't get workers. He starts people at $17 an hour.

So the news looked into Indiana unemployment benefits, + the added $300 that'll be in place through September. Guess what it comes out to? About $17 an hour.

The landscaper said where's the incentive to work when you can get the same staying at home? He said he can't blame people, but he can't compete with free.

I will never forget an article i read while living in the people's republic of oregon. Some investigative reporter kinda thing.

Long long story short. At that time, An unwed mom with 2 kids needed to make about $65 K gross get to an even steven point. In other words, she can work and make $65K and pay her bills or.....not work and receive $65 K in bennies. hmmmmm

You can't blame the recipients. It's human nature. There is a big portion of our population that's more than willing to adjust their standard of living to what ever they get for nothing!

I see on the news this morning, free community college, free this and free that. Like free medicare. ITS NOT FREE.

If they forgive student loans i'm never paying a cent in taxes again! What a terrible message to send, like when the govt bailed out the banks. I worked overtime in a union shop for 2 years straight to pay off my loans.

Why "work" if your happy with what you get for free?

I stopped "working" 10 years ago and am attempting to live on my pension and investments.
50 years in the labor force was enough for me.

Apple has built several new campus locations over the last several years: New HQ in Cupertino, Ca, a campus in Austin, Tx with a second Austin campus scheduled to open next year. The announced Raleigh campus will be the third campus outside of Cupertino.

Just quoting the news that said, first new apple campus in 20 years. You mean i can't believe what i hear on the News?
