It's been a long time since I had that, but I sure enjoyed them myself.
a reuben with kraut is wonderful comfort food. You sure won't be hungry after eating it,
and you have all kinds of great flavors to enjoy. Problem is the 50 grams of fat in all of it...though
none from the kraut. It's like eating prime rib, sometimes you just have to turn your brain off and enjoy.
And then turn your brain back on and eat much healthier food.

In South Florida a real Cuban sandwich was basically a Reuben with sliced pickles grilled panini style. Yummy

ok visit to doc, no surprises, lowering doses, all good.
Now back downtown to supermarket to pick up some salad material.
Scale said OINK in big digits this morning.
Sigh.
Looks like less muffins and more salads.

Ken, that one deer looks covered in ticks.
My family home is about 3 miles North of you, and in the 80's while my brother lived there, he, his wife, one of their two kids and the
family dog all got bit by ticks and got sick. I can't imagine it has gotten any better. Those eeeny wheeny tiny ones are the worst, hard to see, but
I think they drop down from tree limbs or hop off bushes.
There is absolutely nothing worthwhile about a tick. A vampire bug.
Too bad we can't get the cockroaches to eat them, and then the wave of cicadas due soon to eat the cockroaches...
And then your friendly local birds eat the cicada. And then land on your bird feeder.
Begs the question of whether that tick was carrying a disease that can jump species.
wash your hands after handling your bird feeders

Good morning! 64˚ clear skies heading to the upper 70s until 4pm when the cold front blows in. Tomorrow morning will drop into the 30s, the coldest on April 21 since 1953.

Drew the cruise companies have no plans to start before November from US ports with CDC restrictions. They just want to get you committed and postpone it until they are ready. That's why they do not answer the questions because any answer would be wrong. What I do not understand is that you can still sign up for a cruise before then. ?? I guess wishful thinking or some kind of mental sales strategy on their part.

I have discouraged the mud nest swallows with the tacky bird caulk from building a nest above my front door.

I have 15 beer traps in the garden and sadly wasted too much beer - 3 cans of beer cans for 1 slug and 6 pill bugs so far.

Thanks Don.

I learned something this morning I wanted to pass on.
As someone who drinks a lot of coffee, now at least half decaf, I have always been worried about
dehydration, since I've had problems with that before. My endocrinologist this morning said that was a huge misconception
held by the majority of folks. Yes coffee is a mild diuretic but it is not dehydrating at all. The body maintains
its needed fluid level. He said look it up. And so I did.

Drinking caffeine-containing beverages as part of a normal lifestyle doesn't cause fluid loss in excess of the volume ingested. While caffeinated drinks may have a mild diuretic effect — meaning that they may cause the need to urinate — they don't appear to increase the risk of dehydration.

I know that cool pure water is best. I'd like to have a mountain stream nearby I could drink out of...

48F and mostly cloudy @ 12:00, headed up to a high of 49F. Showers due in around 20:00 tonight, will likely change over to snow at some point.

Overnight low Wednesday night/Thursday morning will be in the 20's ... so probably cover the hydrangeas, at a minimum.

Flexible schedule for today.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

39°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 43° today, then dropping down to the upper 20s overnight. I think we'll probably break our old (1904) record of 32° for this date. We're also starting to get rain already, and radar shows the snow is right behind it just to the north and west of St. Louis right now. Naturally, it will be interesting to see what this does to the afternoon drive.

Glad you're back home, Randy. Hope you're feeling better.

I like kraut on hotdogs and bratwurst, too, Bird. We rarely do that, though. Not sure why, other than we just don't think about it. Hotdogs are usually a last minute compromise between needing to eat and not wanting to cook anything big or messy.

66°F and no rain.

Might be a good day to start next round of mowing.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I think the concern is when people only drink "mild diuretic" beverages, it can make it harder to keep hydrated. As you know, if you have your coffee and your water too, you're probably fine... but if all you drink is coffee & mountain dew, your kidneys will be hurting at some point!
