I've had the Pfizer vaccine and booster. No reaction other than a little arm soreness. I was just as a cranky as usual.

Shh, do not give out this secret URL.
Here is the website for Texas that changes weekly. just add a number to the URL each week. This is week 18, tomorrow change it to 19.
In Texas you can get vaccinated in a different county than you live in.
Thanks, but still nothing close to me. And no phone numbers. o_O You can't just show up at those places. That site is almost impossible to navigate and I get dead ends or blank pages.

I supposed to be going to my RA doctor at the end of the month for exam and blood work. I'm hoping I can get a shot there too. Even they are scant on info though. They may have it or may not.

Then there's the rest of us that live in the sticks and no current way to even get vaccinated. When the community health number is called, all you get is a recording saying they don't have any vaccines yet and don't know when they'll get them. Tried calling all the pharmacies in the area and they are only taking employees. I'm not eligible to go up into the big city because you have to show proof of residency in the county or city.
That's a shame. We've been fortunate in that our state did a pretty good job of setting up a website that handles making appointments very easy. You go to the site, enter your location, it popped up 7-8 locations in a few counties near you. You pick a location that's convenient for you, then select a date. It tells you if the date is full or not. After about 3-4 full dates, I went out a month and there were many openings, so I worked my way back until the first date that had a time convenient for me. Booked the appointment that was 3 weeks out and that was that. We are also able to pre-enter any insurance and personal data so it takes less time at the site. The testing site was well run. Everyone, both workers and customers, were pleasant. After you got your shot, while you were waiting your 15 minutes to see if you had a reaction, someone would come around and book your 2nd appointment. About 20-25 minutes total. We were very happy with how it was handled.

Yesterday, the news reported there are several counties in our area that have vaccine sitting around and mostly empty appointment schedules. Health departments say the people in those counties are refusing to get vaccinated.

So it's kinda difficult to watch some people that want vaccines that can't get it while there's places that have plenty of vaccines and openings but people won't take advantage of it.

The phone numbers for the places on the list are easily found on the internet.

I really think it depends on how densely populated you are living or working in. I have never had a flu shot, and I can’t remember the last time I had the flu, certainly not since I’ve been living in N idaho (moved here 1996). I did get the flu when I lived in southern calif.

i have only met one person up here that tested positive for Covid-19. He said it only felt like a cold, but temporary loss of smell and taste. No other symptoms.

we’ve been eating out in restaurants since 10/2020 after they lifted the restaurant ban. Back then you had to mask up until you were seated. Now days No masks required (except for Red Robin until seated) all condiments are back on the table.

Only store that insists on masks is Costco. Of all the restaurants the only ones not seating indoors is my favorite chineese restaurant and dell taco. Rest are open. Most have plexiglass partitions at tables. Main reason being way, way less populated here.

A few of my older friends are getting shots. One person got an infection after getting the 1st shot, but doing better now. I hope the shot doesn’t make you grumpier, cause another older friend just got his....and he’s ALWAYS grumpy enough for 2 people.
I certainly don't live in a very populated area (closest neighbor is 1/4 mile away) and we do not go out much . . . but I am 78 so thought it a good idea to get the shots.

There have been some people that contracted the virus after being fully immunized, and died as a result. No vaccine is 100% effective. 69 million people (21%) have been fully vaccinated in the US. Looks like less than a million (less than 2%) in Canada. There is also evidence in Canada that individuals are contracting the virus after being fully vaccinated, but no deaths as of now.

If the numbers in this last article are correct, about 7% of those who are fully vaccinated have contracted the virus. So, about a 93% success rate....so far.

LOL - better ad a zero to that number - Canada is now up to approaching 10 million, not 1 million.

Read about the Brazilian P1 variant and how much worse it is than the original Covid strain. It is 2.5 times as infectious and is affecting the younger people. What if it mutates into something worse? That is exactly what viruses do if given the chance and Brazil is only 3% vaccinated.

Yup. That’s what worries me. Good thing the vaccination companies are already working on modified vaccines to respond to the variants. (Apparently a very fast process with mRNA vaccines like Pfizer and Moderna).

Well, first off, I said "guess", so that doesn't make me an expert.

Second, my doofus brother in-law and his wife came to his parents' house, along with the rest of the family, to turn off my father in-law's pacemaker to end his life. Two hours into the process, doofus lays down on the floor, removes his mask (again) and tells everyone he's had a fever for two days. Idiot. Everyone in that room with the exception of my father in-law got COVID from him. 5 days later I found his mother lying in her bed half dressed, completely incoherent. Couldn't move. Called an ambulance and she spent 5 days in the hospital. That was in November/December. Yesterday, doofus brother in-law posts of facebook that there's no way he's ever gonna get the vaccine. He's an idiot.

Wow, what a story. Must drive you crazy. Sounds like Doofus may even be criminally liable!

I said "Fully vaccinated", that means both shots. Your need to read further. (y)

I actually gave them a bit of a boost. I believe the number was something like 857,000.

I can relate because even working in a medical system with 60,000 employees and where mom's docs are in the system it was a total failure for her.

They were only accepting online patient appointments through the health platform and mom did not have online health records which requires release of medical records to that format with live signature but that department now working from home so fax ok...

Made several attempts over weeks and this is 48 hour turn around.... never happened.

Would not speak with me so had to submit another authorization via fax.

Over a month and finally ducks in a row only to find out system said no longer accepting vaccination appointments!

I said call me when you are and was told it does not work that way.

Called employee help line that even helps with daycare... said I was concerned bringing Covid home to 87 year old unvaccinated mom...

Help line offered up to 10 weeks family leave if I was concerned...

Years ago Mom volunteered at a free community clinic and I reached out to them and the doctor said can you come now?... I said see you in 15 minutes.

Digital, Online, Text, Voicemail, etc... leaves out many...

I realize this is the way of the world but so many of Oakland's elderly ended up depending on church and faith based organizations..

Working in the system and not being able to take care of mom in the system made me very cranky...

I penned an excellent letter to the CEO of the entire system titled Missed Opportunity?

So far it remains unsent... it is a very good to the point letter but at this point mom is vaccinated.

Don't know what we would do without TBN as a sounding board...

The advice, suggestions and venting with those having similar experience is invaluable and never more then now under Covid...

TBN... a tractor site and so much more.

Yeah, I've been dealing with him for 42 years. As they say, he's a couple sandwiches short of a picnic. I'm fortunate that his parents have always treated me well. My folks passed at an early age and they've been like my own parents for longer than I knew my own. Their oldest daughter is OK by me, too. ;)

The folks in charge do not make it easy to get the shots. I’m past the three score and ten mark so I qualified. Here is what I went through to get the shot. I tried to get an appointment on line at the .gov site. There was a place to click on to “Make an Appointment”, so I clicked on it. That sent me to a place that sold programs to “Make Appointments”. I’m not a dentist’s office or beauty parlor. So, I tried the phone number provided by NYS. I got a sweet computer generated female voice that asked me if I had any questions. I asked, “How do I make an appointment?” The voice proceeded to go through a litany of information, most of which I had already tried. Because of “Corneal Grafts” the Dr. advised that I should get the J&J one shot and double up on the anti rejection meds for two weeks. So I asked the “Voice”, “How I could get the J&J shot.” She went through the same litany as before. At this point I was more than a bit “Pissed”, so I asked the voice, “At the time of your birth were your parents married?” I received the same litany. Obviously “Sweet Voice” wasn’t listening.
The J&J shots were being given at the state fair grounds from 10:00PM to 8:00 AM so over there I went. I explained, when asked if I had an appointment, what I had been through, and I mean everything! The girl at the gate said, “You can make an appointment on your phone.” I handed her my flip phone and said, “SHOW ME!” She handed me back my phone, a couple of sheets of paper, stamped my hand and said, “Follow the arrows.” In all told it took 35 minutes at the fair grounds to get the shot including the 15 minutes to see if I would keel over. I spent more time than that just trying to get an appointment.

I got my second shot yesterday and today I feel it. Kind of like a very minor case of the flu, and yes I’m still cranky but nothing to do with the shot.

It was a hassle in MI, until recently anyway. Checked our local state health dept. web page which asked a few questions. They emailed me the next day with a link to make an appointment which had choices of dates and times, and I made one asap. I got one for a few days later. I walked in for it and they asked one question, "do you have an appointment?" Nothing else.

I was bemoaning having to wait for a return call to set up my appointment. After reading about the hassles some of you have had, I now feel very fortunate.

Getting an appointment for the jab (AstraZeneca in my case) was easy and a bit of a surprise as I was just given a local phone number to call. Once I'd made the appointment, I received a text message with a 'link' to complete a form (medicare #, medical history, prescriptions, etc...) but I couldn't complete the form on my small mobile phone. It took me a while to get the 'link' typed properly onto my PC, then answered/submitted the form.

When I showed up for the shot, 'they' had me fill in the very same form (paper). I received the jab and 'they' handed me an appointment card for my second jab.

By the time I reached home there was another text on my mobile, confirming my second appointment and a 'link' to fill out the same bloody form! I couldn't do it, even on my PC.

Later on I personally inquired about this form at my local Clinic and was told not to worry about it as the appointment is confirmed and I'll just have to fill the paper form in again when I present.
