I felt like that pansy on top of the hay stack:)

Secret is nice and easy, no yanking and straight line pull.
I use my trailer hitch and make sure the patient vehicle is hooked to a structural member.

Also need to walk away at times but as a nice guy give him/her the local tow truck phone number.

It all depends on the situation. Last Saturday I pulled a semi and trailer out with my tractor. The semi was up on the road but the trailer was in the ditch in a snow bank. The road was covered with packed snow and ice. I had a good strap so I would get 2 to 3 ft. of slack in the strap, when I hit the end it would move him forward a few inches. I just kept doing that until his trailer was out. I really didn't think I was going to be able to get him out but that strap saved the day. Steady by jerks.

Just pulled a 1/2 ton pickup truck out of the pucker bush (snow packed ditch) down the road a bit, Was my neighbor so it was gratis and he hooked the strap to his front tow hook. Put the Kubota in fwa and pulled him right out sideways as a straight pull was impossible. Had him put it in neutral with the motor running so he could steer. Years ago I pulled a CJ7 out of the ditch but I used a chain then and had the owner hook it. Instead of using a tow hook or the frame he hooked it to his tie rod. When I popped him out, it did a severe wheel misalignment. Had to get a tow truck anyway, it was undriveable.

We have farm insurance not a regular policy so it covers everything farm related. It's farm related in a vague way.

Farm related, huh? No, I don't think so...

If you knew it was hooked to the tie rod and you still pulled, you should have to pay for the damages.

He probably didn’t look at the hook point prior to pulling. And why should he have to pay for the owners stupidity? That’s kinda the point of having them hook it to start with.

Only mildly related to the thread....

Live on a TVA lake. Back when they had a police force, they disallowed you do drive on the 'beach' when they drew the water down for winter. Didn't stop some dumb yucks....

Came home one day, saw truck at odd angle, on the beach, right where a (usually under water) ditch was. Yep, he was stuck. Went home, called TVA police then drove back out on my backhoe. TVA was there. I don't know if they gave him a citation or not but it turned out this was his fathers truck and he was out funning around and now, got himself into a pickle. The truck was absolutely slathered in mud.

He asked if I could get him out.... TVA said have at it if I wanted....I said I could BUT he had to latch my chain to it. Well... what that meant was he literally had to get into several inches of lake bottom muck with his entire body while reaching for his totally submerged frame to wrap chain around. When he came back now HE was totally slathered with mud.

How is he going to get the truck out with me pulling? He had to crawl into the truck totally covered with lake muck. I pulled him out and as I did so his rear end raised a bit which lowered the angle of his front bumper making it act like a scoop and it got totally packed with more lake muck.

Now he gets to go home and explain this to his father.

Probably good enough punishment.

Yes it does.

Regarding CVT, I read somewhere they shouldn't be towed with the wheels on the ground. Maybe that's why it's missing? :confused3:

Just grasping at straws.
