Interesting article in paper today. Local Hospital starting 1b vaccinations on 20th, 1c on 25th. Almost mentioned they could do about 1000/week and estimated about 5000 seniors in the 1b group. Sign up open to 1a&1b, but not 1c.

State taxes filed (and paid)
Pressure/leak test successful. Did have to tighten 2 threaded fittings at the water supply union. Had forgotten I had left loose.
Switching gears tomorrow, back to internet.

Morning!
Same as Roy today. 30 now going to 36 maybe with a threat of rain.

Today is my wife's last full day of employment. She starts part time Monday to work 2 days a week till March.

Housework for me today. To bad of weather for outside stuff. Still working on a few wood and string projects I'm building for gifts.
Hope everyone has a great weekend! Stay safe and healthy!

Frist cup of coffee cooling. 36° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 35° with rain and snow. Did not get much done yesterday. My 92 year old Aunt who spent4 days in hospital from a stroke she had on Saturday came over. What a recovery. Little weak. But back at it like normal. Tough lady.
Got my Electric/Gas bill for the last month. Most of the billing time was while using gas fired wood stove and a couple of electric heaters. $342. That's double what a normal bill would be for for this time of year. But it was 4° average cooler outside than last year. I had figured the bill would be a little over $400.
Back to yesterdays plans. Grocery shopping, Dr appointment and some shop time today.
Little squirrel.

Mostly, it felt good not to cycle furnace every few hours to keep house warm. Now kept at 72° and 68°. With no input from me.

Randy, Don and others, I sure hope my shot goes good next week. With all the people waiting for an appointments there is a long wait. Some of the appointments being handed out here are 30 miles away from persons home. I live on the far West side of county. Population is on East side. Hope you all get an appointment soon.

Phil, congrats on wifes part time retirement.

David, the big thing about only being able to 1000 a day. What happens to that line when all the first people start their second shot in 3 weeks. :confused3::mur:

Ridtides, nice truck.

RNG, when I look at the map. Michigan is not far behind to bottom of the list.

Roy, good to limit number of chargers. I have 3 different ones. Bosch 18 and 12 volt. HF 40 volt. When my GS was over to help with toilet. Gave him all my Dewalt and Bosch 14 volt tools.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

good morning all
30 out now going up to a warmer 50 in clouds, and then rain around dinnertime.

welcome to Engineer, Bravo, nice to have new faces here.:welcome:

David, yes but it was a really BIG french fry...;)
two years since I bought it, and hand waxing is hard on my wrists, despite me enjoying the process.

Roy, you will love that Dewalt grease gun. Yes it's kind of big and heavy at times but sure works nice.
I found it consistently loaded the new cartridge which was nice. Prior models would sit there making noise and nothing came out...

Like many of us, I have a group of friends keeping in touch with Covid vaccine news. When availability starts, the
phone/email lines will light up.

Hope your wife likes her new truck Rip. I got a ride home in a friend's Silverado 1500 yesterday and I was surprised how nicely it rode.
Am strongly considering trading in car for a new truck. If next week's PET scan is good, will move forward on that.
I really miss my truck...and now that my car is clean again, really don't want to junk it up hauling lumber in it.
My biggest question I haven't resolved is half ton with nice ride, and conventional travel trailer, or 3/4 ton diesel and fifth wheel.
As an only vehicle, the latter truck is a lot to take to get groceries...I've owned a diesel dually before and I know that doesn't work as an only
vehicle. The curbs in Washington NC still have my rubber marks on them...

I looked at used diesels on autotrader and they sure hold their value.
If I get ten grand off a 75k new truck, that still means I'm paying what I paid for my first home...
My challenge is I like cloth seats and rarely can you get the full option package with a lower line model.

Good morning all. No rain today for us, just freezing fog. With temperatures dropping further I am holding back on ark building for a few days, in case an icebreaker turns out to be more appropriate.

Ron, your aunt's get up and go is an inspiration to all

Hear that some of you will getting 1.9 trillion dollars soon to share out. That is some stimulus, any plans yet on how you will be spending it ? Guess it is best not to think too deeply about where the money is actually coming from ;)

or who is going to pay it back. Probably one of the few good reasons not to have children, so you don't stick them with the tab you rang up...
I know of several people already who were in no financial distress whatsoever who got checks in the mail.
Like me.
Since I earn less than 75K annually, I certainly qualify or I wouldn't have gotten the check.
But do I want your grandchildren to pay it back? No.
Our national debt is simply enormous. If we did a FICO on the US Govt, pretty sure it would not
generate a good score...

Chicken in every pot doesn't seem like a very sophisticated plan. That idea has been around for awhile...
I plan to give part of that chicken/money to local food bank this year.

32 outside this AM, heading to mid 50's.

I managed to get a nice coat of primer on the porch yesterday. I am getting lots of cudo's and well... yeah...it looks nice. Just need to get the gutters back up. A small engineering feat, keeping the same position while you remove the front half of your house and replace it with an open porch. LOL. And a nice coat of paint in the spring.

Mostly, no priming on the truck. I think your talking undercoating? Not enough weather here for that.
Drew, I know what you mean about trailering and size. Our diesel pulls the gooseneck, the 1500 may pull everything else. The 1500 now comes in a diesel, the dealers eyes bulged as his perk allows him to use one, and it was his first day with it. Wife said no on that. Pretty quickly...too.. I tried to use the excuse, but honey all our vehicles are diesel.

The 1500 had to pass the railroad track test here at the road on the way to the house. The tracks have got to be the worst in the state, they actually bounce you side to side. Bad for the wife with the terminator exo-skeleton back. It did really well, probably one of the smoothest vehicles we have ridden in. It also has the "blind spot" warning on the mirrors. Just another safety aid for us both. Back to the seats, well we both like leather as it is easier to pivot in and out of, we both back into a seat butt first. Leather makes that almost like a slide effort getting into driving position.

I am hoping it will serve her well. I do like it, but I just don't like driving anymore. Except for the tractor of course.

Today is a grocery run day! Beer!

Hope all have a great day. Be safe and stay healthy my friends.

Rip, I was spoiled by owning a full air bag suspension Ram, the softest riding truck out there.

Am thinking about the new F150 hybrid. I like the 25mpg part. And 14k tow rating. Pulling a 10k conventional travel trailer.
Used to be you could only do that with a 3/4 ton but not any more.
But I keep going to the Build It process and the total cost makes me just glaze over.
I always thought I'd never spend more than 50 grand on a car or truck, but that means a used loaded truck today.

time for breakfast. Think I'll make some oatmeal

Colder down here than up at Roy's this morning...29 and frosty with a pretty salmon sky...rain this afternoon and 53.

Phil I'm happy for you...starting SS and getting wife retired.

Rip, congrats on getting the porch about done while having to deal with so much else...sounds like a nice truck and good reasoning on what you chose.

Ron, amazing good news on your aunt.

David, gold star for getting taxes done...I'm still cleaning old game cam pix and videos off my hard drive to make room for loading TurboTax Deluxe and Business.

Real nice looking coffee grinders, guys. I'd like to have an old one that was in the family, but guess my grandparents drank Sanka. :) Is that still even in the stores? Don, I'd love to send you a sampler of my roasts, if you're comfortable PMing me your address. If not, I sure understand. Since I buy my coffee green, don't have any recommendations for a nationally distributed bean, but most areas have small roasters that many of the chain stores carry in that locale. I looked on the HEB website...they have some interesting coffees under their own Cafe Ole house brand, including a Texas Pecan that either Rick or Kyle (I can't remember) would love and a Texas Hill Country. Naming coffees has gotten like naming craft beers...wild names...I see one named Jet Fuel, another called Jackhammer, another Bike Fuel...that Mostly might like. I wish I could shop there, I'd probably try a couple...good prices and selection at the Victoria store (that's where HEB's website took me).

Had a real nice hike at a nearby state park yesterday...only saw two people...one lady riding a horse, and another riding a mule.

I've been upgrading some of my tools...
Picked up a DeWalt battery powered grease gun (boy!, maybe this thing is more then I need to grease the tractor, mower and implements...it's huge!), a portable lamp and today I received the drill. I'd had one of the older DeWalt battery drills...as part of my reduction in the number of battery chargers, I gave the older drill (left here by the previous owners of our house) to a co-worker...now I'm down to an EGO charger, a Ryobi charger and a DeWalt charger. All great tools!!
These DeWalt tools are great quality...I'm used to buying the cheap stuff...but finally bit the bullet and went for better quality tools

Same here Roy....well said "but finally bit the bullet and went for better quality tools"
Looking at DeWalt battery impact set.
