TODAYS SEAT TIME

Dang, that’s what I would call a bad day!

I would agree with that. My troubles were very minor compared to your story Howling and I got to work in the day light after it stopped snowing.

I didn't put my plow on the truck. Was watching the weather. Started out with 8" to 10" then less and less. They got down to an inch or two so I didn't bother. Ended up with about 6". It was zero degrees so I decided to use the truck plow. When I pushed into the plow to mount it it was so slippery I pushed the plow down over the bank. Had to haul it back up with the tractor and chains.

"... I stopped with the rears on the edge of the road directly over the culvert, and about 8 feet of air between my rear bumper and the beaver dam. Using my hilift as a winch I pulled myself forward 3 feet onto my tire chains, and proceeded up the hill again..."

Mr. Justpassing - that is a ride for the books!

Think I would have gotten out, thrown the keys in the beaver pond and just started walking up the hill...in fact, I'd still be walking...

Before they fixed this one railroad crossing near my home, on a side road, everyone would have to gun it up the road when ground was icy and try to get past the tracks without sliding all the way back down the hill. The main problem was it was twin tracks without any crossing guard. Just stop signs. You had to slow to check tracks, and if you didnt time it just right.....back down you go for another try. Locals knew not to get behind another rig climbing that hill. Its kind of unnerving sliding down a hill backwards. Especially when theres another car at the base of hill. Now there are crossing arms, and the leveled off the hill a bit.

Well todays seat time was in the old 574 with the old manual adjust back blade,
doing clean up from the big storm.
Of course as I was parking the ol girl it started snowing more another inch of wet slick snow.
I miss my heated cab and suspension seat and hydraulics on the blade.

This should probably go under "Tomorrow's Seat Time" except there is no such thread.01022021.jpeg

^^^ Always good to have something to do tomorrow. Ours is over now and it's starting to blow and cool down. Snow here shouldn't move much, it's pretty heavy. We got about 7". I plowed at 10 this morning when we had 5" because they said it would turn to rain but that didn't happen. If it was just us, who don't go anywhere, I would just leave it and plow after the crust froze up but there are several families down below that make a mess with all there traffic so it's best for me to get it off before the rain.

We only got a couple of inches and other than bucketing off the town plows windrow at the mouth of my folks and our driveways, I'm leaving the rest till tomorrow when it is hardened up.

It actually was nice to have a day inside,:janitor: with just the dog and me the place can get a bit fecund.

Edit We must have gotten around 8-10 inches of light, fluffy snow. I spent about 45 minutes tonight cleaning my driveways out and will finish tomorrow. Keeping the tractor in mid-range I was able to push all that I wanted without trouble.
