What dosage of vitamin D are you taking now?

I was taking a combo calcium/D3 pill that had 800 IUs of D3.

When that ran out, I switched to a Tums and a straight D3 pill at 1000 IUs.

Based on the D3 video I linked here yesterday, I've increased that to 3 x 1000 IUs. At the very end of that video, the primary physician said he's jumped his own dose to 5000 IUs/day. I may get to that, but that same video showed some countries have set 4000 IUs as the maximum safe dose.

66°F and 1.62 inches rain another wet one. May need a generator run today, not been enough sun of late to keep the batteries fully charged. Will be keeping an eye on them. Not to often I get this low with the lithiums put in last year.

Have to make trip to town to pick up last things for Christmas.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Wng, you might not want to let that dog on your couch....

Good Morning. Its 13 with a forecast high of 31 and partly cloudy skies. Probably not a lot of snow melt happening today.

Today is the coldest day since I installed the new generator back in August. It will be interesting (and comforting) to see it start for its scheduled exercise in an hour or so.

Yesterday I did work in the shop, got the speaker glued up and some of the internal parts cut up. The speakers I build are used primarily by musicians, most often bassists, and are high end, full range flat response design. They make excellent PA cabinets as well, and would be good for home use, but have far more SPL capability than you could use in a home. Most of my clients are professional touring musicians, it’s fun to see my cabs in videos or late night TV.

Instead of cleaning up the shop, I made a big pot of cheddar and ale soup, and took some to a friend who’s wife slipped on the ice and broke her femur. We were figuring out what he needed to to to the house to be ready for her when she gets home from the hospital complete with a new metal rod and some pins.

Today I’ll work on the speaker and likely clean up some.

Popgadget, Hope your friend's wife is home soon. I guess the orthopedic surgeons and hospitals up north make a lot of money during ice storms. Could you post a video of one of your speakers in action? You do know PJS is a professional level bassist? (amongst other things). My wife doesn't like SPL's from my JBL L 200's, so I only drive them when she's gone.....but before I can do that again, I need to re-cap my McIntosh amp.

Work Scroll Compressor.....like roseanne rosannadanna would always say, "If it's not something, it's something else." The unit was shutting down intermittently. So I correctly diagnosed that the unit's coolant oil wasn't flowing to and from the radiator. No delta temp difference. I looked all over the web for information, but found none. So I made a video of us removing the thermostat component, and showing what it looked like. It has a "wax" type thermal spring loaded thermostat, that was broken.

Now hopefully I can start bead blasting Steiner parts that are too big for my small home blast cabinet.

WE ARE GETTING SOME RAIN. It is going into the cracks. Hope they swell shut. 59F here.

Ron, hope you can get it fixed with insurance.

Prayers for Ron's son, Randy, Buppies, Drew, and all who are silent with needs. I have a friend at work, (a Ph.D) whom isn't big on faith, but had heart problems again...well, I told him I'd pray for him. His procedure came out well and he came and thanked me for the prayers. I'm not the one worthy of thanks.

Good Morning!!!! 42F @ 8:30AM. Partly cloudy. High 57F. Winds light and variable.
The 10-day is now calling for showers next Saturday and Monday, and lower totals than the 0.5" the predicted yesterday for next Sunday. :confused2: If that trend continues, we'll end up with nothing at all. We're still in Extreme Drought conditions, and since October we've had the second driest year on record.

I don't think John Kay was talking about that kind of pusher, Randy.

Not surprised that Macaroni Grill went belly up, Ted. Last time I was there was a dozen or so years ago, and the service was terrible, food cold, and the wonderful garlic flavor they had in their dishes was gone. What is surprising is that they lasted as long as the did.

Those dogs look like they just got caught with their paws in the dog biscuit jar, David.
Tell your bartender less head on that beer next time.
Still happy with your iPhone Max? Do you find the larger size awkward to carry?

USPS tracking updates are few and far between in my experience, Kyle. Don't give up hope quite yet!

Looks like your givin' Ted a real run for his money in the bar clamp department, Paul!:D

Good luck with the tractor repair, Lou. Hopefully you've got a place inside to work on it?

Lots of problems with theft here, Dave, especially on properties burned by the Camp Fire. It's not bad enough that the owners were burned out, now many are living in trailers or campers trying to get back on their feet, and scum bags steal their generators and whatever they can carry away while the victims are sleeping or off getting supplies. :irked:

That's one well fed "dog", Bill. Coyote?

Our CV19 data is showing a clear spike starting 2 weeks after Thanksgiving. Too bad more people didn't take your precautions, Don.

:welcome: Peter315. Nuthin' like a good stove to keep you warm in temps like that!

Glad your tile arrived safely, RS. Nuthin' wrong with black'n'white!

Congrats on the scroll diagnosis/repair, Kyle. Looking forward to spic'n'span Steiner parts photos.

Was back up at the cul-de-sac yesterday morning, this time aiming to take down one of the dead oaks up there. It was the easiest to get to, and in spite of the 12" trunk on the thing, I still tried to push it over with the tractor to see if the root ball would come out with it. No dice, so I notched one side with the little Makita, then had second thoughts about back cutting it because of the large limbs on the wrong side. Gave the tractor another try and the trunk snapped off, with the tree ending up right were it needed to be. Smashed into quite a few pieces being as dry as it was. Filled up the bucket with pieces and dragged the trunk down to the wood pile. Left the 1" vine of poison oak up there on the road, strung across the gate another neighbor had constructed, which infringes on my easement. He tied the other end of that fence to one of the dead trees that I'm taking out, so that'll take care of part of the problem.

Switched gears for the afternoon and used the pallet forks to bring up one of the steel Kubota side-by-side pallets up to the garage so I could start cutting it apart. Each pallet has five sticks of 10' long rectangular tubing, and another five of slightly smaller 5' sticks. Took three zip discs and an hour and a half, and it's almost all apart. I'll use the pieces to fashion hoops on a new set of firewood pallets that will hopefully be strong enough that I can stack one on top of the other. Once I get two of them built, I'll dig out the splitter and start catching up on firewood makin'.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Well, haircut and dump run completed!! Also the bank stop...
Had the tractor block heater plugged in while I was out and about (just about 90 minutes) and jumped in to start it...click...click...what a bummer!
Too cold (<10 degrees) to play around with it...lights were bright...both instrument and headlights/work lights. Range was in neutral...so, should have cranked. It is a used tractor, but only 4 years old...I wouldn't think the battery was worn out. There's no way to jump it the way the tractor is parked...well, it's to cold to mess with it now...I'll wait a bit.
When I buy a battery for my tractor (only did it once with the 4520), I go through Deere since their batteries are fairly priced and quite robust. It's possible the previous owner replaced the battery with something that is so robust...
Or, maybe it's something else...
I'll keep the forum posted on what I find...right now, I'm seriously considering a nap...

Checked MD COVID numbers, and they started going up the beginning of Nov, with no spike after thanksgiving, they are declining a little. IMG_7773.JPG
The top line is total cases ever, the next line subtracts those that died and those “released” from having COVID, which should be the number of active cases. The problem is the release number barely goes up.

IMG_7773.JPG
The orange line is number of new cases per day. The initial rise, then drop, then a rise after July 4th, then it steadied out again, then the late October rise.

The bottom graph is % that tested positive of those tested. After the initial phase where only those that had all the symptoms were tested, the rate rate has stayed the same.

The UPS delivery guy again coded my delivery with "Delayed due to weather or emergency" ...

This is what the poor little feller had to deal with, that he apparently couldn't find the stones to overcome:

When I first moved here, I had a UPS driver tell me that they won't come down unpaved driveways. Period. So I put a job box up at the cul-de-sac.

The FedEx guy comes down the drive anytime I leave the gate open for him.

USPS never comes down the drive, either.

Just for reference...

GT80 rings appear to be stuck in a Pennsylvania USPS meltdown...tracking is not getting updated.

Even the post office is saying "Don't use the post office" up there right now. Also saying "Deliveries are not happening before Christmas"...

Doesn't look good

Roy, That's pretty cold. They make heat pads for batteries. If the battery is weak it might help for a while. Make sure the wire connections at both ends are clean.
