Good morning! 36 heading to 77.

Good loaf Eric, looks better than mine. I think the whole wheat flour does not rise as much.

Ron, feed those cranes some fish. Maybe throw a can of sardines out back for a treat. And get a pic of their reaction.

Heading out the door to the fresh cut cedar smells this morning in the park.

25-47 today, it’s been too cold too soon for me.

I want to get the vinyl top on the 70 El Camino this week but I just haven’t motivated myself yet.
I ran across a deal on motor and trans, from a 2012 Camaro, now I’m back to thinking swap in the El. Motor is no big deal but I’m not sure what mods it would take for the transmission to fit. Not wanting to build a new tunnel for it although I’ve done that before.

Have a good day guys.

I do, and my smoker went to the dump this fall, rotted out in the bottom even though it stayed clean and under cover. I guess that’s what 33 years will do.

I went through many over the years, this one is about a year and a half old. So far very happy with it. The temperature controlled draft blower works great and it is quite a fuel miser. 8 lbs of charcoal will last 14-16 hours. It has Drew and Buckeye’s pork in it in the picture.

Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 5:00AM. Partly cloudy. High 66F. Winds light and variable.
Looks like the weatherman is turning on the faucets starting Saturday, with Sunday bringing 0.6" and six of the ten days with showers.
Read yesterday that the North Complex Fire, the one that burned most of the summer and took two runs at this place, finally reached 100% containment. Now with these rains, maybe it'll finally be put out.

Hope your trip goes smoothly, Drew. With tight budgets and "defund the police" movements, traffic fines are more important than ever to keep police paychecks coming. Never cared for the heavy handed enforcement tactics, though, another reason for moving west at a young age when that kind of thing mattered a lot more.

No pics of the oil pan, Ron, but I do need to take some just so I'll remember how it was put together.

That's some tasty looking pig, Paul. What are you putting on the outside?:licking:

And you were worried about the bread, Eric. Beautiful loaves!

Seems like just when I start getting things back on an even keel, Mike, Life has something else in mind. Keep chipping away at the problems, you'll get there.

That's a LOT of lights, Ted. The video is a good reminder of how busy you've been over the past couple of years, building the granny cabin and garage, moving, helping your boys start their families. Whew, wears me out just thinkin' about all of that, not to mention the knee...

Saw video on last night's news where three neighbors had combined decorating their houses. Looked like one computer ran all the lights, huge sound system/color organ kind of thing. No Christmas music, though, they were playing Star Wars theme! Crass as all get out. What's wrong with people?:confused2:

I don't wanna jinx myself, Bruce, but the cold start problem seems to have gone away when I installed the pollution control stuff on the van. But it also hasn't been that cold yet this year, so the real test is still ahead.

Happy wife, happy life, RS.

Speaking of Life's surprises, got an email from my insurance agent yesterday letting me know that my policy won't be renewed in February. Thought I was in the clear until August when the current state mandated insurance cancellation moratorium expires, and wrote back asking for an explanation. Then last night saw on the news that the state's last chance fire insurance premiums will be going up pretty steeply next year. That may be my only choice if I continue to carry fire insurance; maybe I'll self insure for fire and cover liability instead?:confused2:

Got a call that the new safe is ready to be picked up, so made arrangements to drive down to LA Sunday and load it into the truck first thing Monday morning. The southern half of the state is under a travel restriction, but safety and security related activities are allowed, just nothing recreational. I'll enjoy a nice room at the Sheraton down there, but still not what I'd consider recreation.

The dip stick tube on the oil pan was not only in the wrong spot, it was too short for the new spot, too. Turned up another one, got it located and welded in, and cut the new bottom out of a piece of 0.190" 4130 chrome moly steel. Still need to drill and tap it for the drain plug, but I should be able to get it welded on and painted today.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

What do you all think of this? Click on the word video and take a look.
I couldn稚 find run times on a charge, but I didn稚 look too hard.

Edit; Runtime is 10 hrs light load/5hrs heavy load, recharge is 5 hours with optional extra battery that can be changed in 5 minutes by one person. (They say)

I'm adding a new system down at our farm. The original system was installed in the early 70's. I'm flipping it to the opposite side of the house; 1500 gal tank and lines for 5 bedrooms. Total cost here... 5K. Brand new. Permit was $525.00 and that includes a new well also. Oh... and $800 bucks for the engineer.

My neighbors system was closer to $20K here, they seem to see $$ signs when work needs to be done in my area. Too bad my neighbor and I are in the tiny houses, can't afford the monstrosities across the street.

Looks nice, my son has a new one that uses pellets. It really makes some good BBQ with hickory or mesquite.
I’m not sure what I’m going to replace it with yet. I really don’t need a big one, but I like the extra capacity for when we have family visit.
This is what my son bought last.

26 and enough frost to make up for the snow that didn't stick Monday.

Could have quite a feast with Eric's bread and Pop's pork...sensory overload...there is a point during the roasting of coffee that it smells like bread baking...always love that point...roasted a couple of batches yesterday...Burundi and Ethiopia.

Ron, great pic again. Would like to have had your camera this morning...had a flock of evening grosbeaks going nuts at the feeders until a sharp shinned hawk showed up and broke up the party. We rarely see grosbeaks, so it's always a treat.

Rip, sorry about the septic system...there may be extra regulations due to the Chesapeake Bay Act. It does make things more expensive. So far, all we've been asked to do here is get the tank pumped every 5 years and notify the county...and they don't follow up if you don't (since I forgot for a few extra years). Good news is that the Bay is in better shape other than a few big problems, such as sediments coming down the Susquehanna and the occasional failure of the Conowingo dam where 200 million tons of sediment are trapped behind it...anyone need some landfill? :)
