Good morning!!!!

Drinking first cup of coffee. 36° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 44° with sunny skies. New valve is in furnace. Working good. Did some cleanup in cellar. Not sure what I will get done today. Just remembered I have the tool stand that I bought to assemble.
Doves are trying to stay warm.

LS, Christmas lights look good.

Drew, good you got generator hooked up.

David, great picture. iPhone 12 did a great job.

RS, I did 3 different tile jobs a few years ago. Bought a tile saw to do that project. When done gave it to my son. You about as much snow as I did. Great pictures.

RNG, my son ordered a DJI Mavic 2 Zoom. He needed side sensors for what he uses it for. Since I mostly take pictures with mine. 48 megapixels on the Air 2 will work for me.

Luther, sorry for your loss.

Everyone stray safe and healthy.

Good Morning All

Luther, sorry for your loss of someone close.

Harbor Freight is trying to send me a second 12" sliding mitre saw after I cancelled the first online order, in writing, several weeks ago as item was backordered with no ETA.
They seemed to have ignored me and are sending this giant heavy box anyway. Made a big sign on front door saying REFUSED to Fedex guy, will see if that accomplishes anything.
Sure not going to order anything online from them anymore. They confirmed they got my request to cancel weeks ago (I found the saw at a local store) but said my letter was only a request and not guaranteed. What nonsense. Hopefully the refusal will work, rain is coming later this week and not like I can leave this huge heavy box outside. I had to have help getting box into and out of car, not something I can do by myself, so this is pretty aggravating. The saw works great but I sure don't need two of them...

Full moon was very pretty this morning, nice seeing the photos here.

Good morning! 38˚F heading to the Park, brrr. It should warm up to the 50s by the time I need to crank up the saw.

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 4:15AM. Sunny to partly cloudy. High 66F. Winds light and variable.

I tiled two bathrooms, the kitchen, dining area, laundry room, and entry a few years ago, RS. Bought a bridge saw from HF, and followed a suggestion in the reviews to put the pump in a bucket of clean water instead of the tray where all the cutting debris collects. Worked like a charm and the saw still works good as new. I think it's on its third blade, and I won't be buying any more blades from HF as they're not very round and tend to leave a wavy edge. Very happy with the diamond blade from Bosch. Treat yourself to a pair of good knee pads, the kind with wide straps above and below the knee. I used a cheap pair that had just one strap and still have nerve damage in my lower legs.

That's a LOT of megapixels, Ron!

Glad to hear you're almost done with the porch, Mike.

Have you tried out the new generator on propane yet, Drew? Still haven't installed the kit on the Honda yet, and wonder how the switch over will go...

:welcome: Allen. Doesn't seem that long ago we had 100F+ temps here, and I can't say I miss 'em...

Pretty impressive for a phone pic, David.

The oil leak on the decoupler is where I thought it was, around the shaft where the actuator goes through the nose casting. Same place the other decoupler leaked, and now I wonder if they both didn't come from the same person. I'll try to get him on the phone today and see what he has to say.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

26F and partly cloudy @ 08:00, sun expected to make an appearance shortly then headed up to a high of 42F ...

Was a melanistic squirrel out on the feeder about an hour or so ago:

IMG_0721 copy.jpg

The Woman asked if they were good eating ... said I should ask Ralph ... I just laughed. (Ralph was my barber and used to come out to go squirrel hunting here)

Ten minutes later there were a total of six around the feeder and nearby, two of them being melanistic ... along with a variety of birds, including several blue jays, cardinals, juncos, and a red bellied woodpecker. Similar activity at the other feeders. The cats really seem to be enjoying all of it ...

Think the feeder(s) close to empty, probably will need to refill here in a bit. Also put out another ear of corn and get that bird bath plugged in. Need to replace a light bulb while I'm out there as well.

About fifteen minutes ago these guys showed up:

Evidently still some acorns out there.

View out back, looking SSE:

Hope everyone has a great day ...

Good morning all, 30 going up to 44, partly cloudy -ground is less spongy due to wind
Maybe time to put the lights up on the house. finished the ground based lights yesterday, and got our tree.

LS- Nice light show
RS- like the tile picks
BEF - that was a quick turn around for the GEO - hot showers again
Alien - be careful not to get dehydrated in that heat
Popg - may the winds be at your tail today- have a safe trip and key lime pie

Stay safe and be well, and thanks for the great pictures Ron and David.

Good morning to all! Low of 18, only going up to 30 for a high. Off and on light snow all day, so the 2" we have so far will only get deeper. Tomorrow the high is forecasted for 33, so until the sun comes out, no melting for sure.

LFN, we didn't get as much snow as you, but the moisture is welcome here... no matter what kind it is! Have fun plowing today (at least you're getting some seat time). Unless there is 5-6"+, I won't get the tractor out.

Luther, our condolences to you and your family for your loss.

Drew, I am happy to read that you finally got the genny hooked up. Now that it is ready to go, you probably won't need it for a couple years.....
Also nice that you have power set up in the garage. It is guaranteed that if there is an extension cord laid out, I will trip on it! Hope you don't have too much trouble getting the saw back to HF.

BEF, glad you got the hot water back on line! Cool or cold showers are not pleasant this time of year!

Alien, those temps are way too extreme... I don't like temps even in the mid 90s. I'll take cold over hot any day!

David, nice pic.... should be on a postcard.... do they even have them anymore?

RIP, what deck boards are you using? I made the mistake of using 5/4x6" (so called pressure treated) on our porches when I built the cottage. It has only been about 14 months and already have a bunch cupping and checking even though they were sealed. Very disappointing. I had used 5/4 on the decks at the old house 27 years ago.... they are still good.

RS, I have one of the HF 7" table tile saws, 7 in. Portable Wet Cut Tile Saw
It is at least 15 years old, used for remodeling of 3 bathrooms, kitchen floor and 26' of counter and backsplash, and living room in the old house, then the full bathroom, tub surround, laundry room sink, and kitchen backsplash in the new cottage. Probably well over 1K sq ft of tile cut with that saw.
To me it has paid for itself many times over, on its second blade (not HF). Use it for every cut, I don't even own a manual tile cutter!

The only issue I have had with it occurred last summer... I went to pull the plastic water tray out, and it just cracked in a few pieces. Easily replaced with a small tupperware tray we had. I was surprised that the tray broke, becoming so brittle.... but if was 15 years old too....

Ron, nice pic of the morning dove... it sure looks cold!

Everyone have a great day!

65°F and 0 rain.

About half hour of mowing left to be finished. Then back to project. Nothing particularly productive just lots of clean up, prep for next phase.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Took less than 2 hrs to swap water heater. As soon as I could move the old one with water still in it I got it out, got “new” one in and installed. Ran hose out basement door to drain, got chilly with door cracked open. Will finish draining old one later.
The “new” one is a marathon by rheem, I used previously. I replaced it 10 yrs ago with a GE geospring with a heat pump. Was very economical when the heat pump worked, had it fixed once, then went out again several years ago and been operating as electric only.

Got slight drip on cold water connection, tape barely went around. New one is taller, had to remove blocks I had under old one. Will pick up shorter flex pipes.

Old in front, new one in back.
Nice to have hot water again

Good job, rewarding results
