Does anyone know how to build a chicken coop or want to in this time of need, heres how........
Best Chicken Coop for Homesteading - YouTube

The wife told me years ago, no farm animals!! And I am grateful, I really don't need other stuff to have to take care of. Got enough to do already!

Besides, if I raise em from babys I would have a hard time killing them!

First time I tried raising turkeys I got about a dozen poults. They came along real well. We cleaned up a nice one for the Thanksgiving dinner. All stuffed and proud looking ready to go. Things got frantic when we discovered that it wouldn't fit in the oven - not even close.

I used to lose a lot of chickens to weasels...I moved the henhouse from where it was next to my house underneath a tree; up into my field, where there's no cover. That was about 5-6 years ago and I've sen one weasel since. Those little buggers are tough though... I shot him with a .22 magnum hollow point, and he ran off with his intestines sticking out the hole in his side.

I raise meat chickens and a few turkeys every year. They do indeed taste better yet I get tired of everybody telling me "Well I went down and bought two turkeys for $8.00 today..." My neighbor who knows everything is always telling me that. Yet I started raising them after my brother had a heart attack and commercially grown turkey is one of the things his Dr told him not to eat.
We'd get that sometimes also, but we just stopped selling to them. I'd rather eat all the chickens than listen to garbage. Since these cook much faster than commercially grown I told this one lady 3-1/2 hours for her bird. She gets home and since she knows better she cooked it 5 hours, then complained it was dry and tough. I felt bad for the bird that she destroyed and her family that got stuck with a crappy Thanksgiving.

I tell the naysayers that if I pumped mine with saline solution the cost per pound would be down, also.

Your suppose have chickens so you have a constant supply of fresh eggs, hard to have a home cooked breakfast without eggs. But yes farm animals is everyday care and not for me either, glad some like doing it or I'd go hungry.......

Yeah, wouldn't mind the chickens to eat and the eggs... but... And I'm glad others like doing it also.

I keep thinking about getting some chickens but I'm already too busy and really can't add another responsibility. Maybe when the kids are older I'll just make them do it.

It's fun, but you still can find better dals on eggs and chickens at the grocery store. Besides, there are 4 people just in this town who sell eggs.
I like doing it, and my dog likes having the various livestock around. When he's gone the chickens, turkeys, and pigs will be, also.
